7. PINKO
Pure systems of any type generally self destruct, taking a lot of innocent people with them when they do.

I prefer a mixed system, since that's the only way to be both competitive and humane.

In general, capitalism does a great job of producing things, and socialism does a much better job of producing necessary services. Items can always move back and forth between systems as one system or the other proves itself inadequate to the job.

Yes, it's messy and complicated, but so's life. I'm afraid designing a system for the simpletons has gotten us exactly where we are today.

25. I thought I was a progressive, but then
I took The Political Compass Test and scored a few points left of Walt Brown, the Socialist candidate for president.

http://www.digitalronin.f2s.com/politicalcompass
The idea was developed by a political journalist with a university counselling background, assisted by a professor of social history. They're indebted to people like Wilhelm Reich and Theodor Adorno for their ground-breaking work in this field. We believe that, in an age of diminishing ideology, a new generation in particular will get a better idea of where they stand politically - and the sort of political company they keep.

of those who would alter the status quo ...

we honor the traditions of our founding fathers ... we believe in such lofty values as freedom and democracy ... we believe that the weak and the poor should be provided with hope and at least some protection from the powerful and the wealthy who own our government and control its policies ...

who the f**k cares what you call that ...

29. Just say SOCIALIST and get it over with.
God I hate the term "progressive". Progressive is not a noun...It makes you sound like you are hiding something...just be honest for god's sake. The progressive caucus in congress is the socialist caucus. Progressives support socialist policies.

not a damn thing wrong with that either!!!

31. Progressive
I was born in 1980. I think Liberal has garnered a bad name because the middle age people today, were kids and teens in the 60's and 70's. Every liberal they hear of/see, they picture hippees and war protesters.

Democrats should move towards calling themselves progressives and ditch the "L" word

40. None of the above. A radical.
I'm far to the left of what Team Bush would describe as "far left".

In the UK, my home, I am classified as a moderate.

The crime of the century is how Bush and his sort stole the terminology of the left wing.

I don't mind "professor" or "musician" as they describe what I do. "New Orleanean" is OK too, but labels are not my cup of tea. They tend to lead to the unnatural quantification of what is human.
