2. She is a good call, that's all... after the point about Germany
which was that we (liberals) cannot be so easily persecuted and the internet provides an open channel which the Germans didn't have.

Then she talked about getting thrown out of church. I thought she was a good call.

3. I have often wondered if Germany could have been saved from the Nazis
if they'd had the Internet.

OTOH, look at all the trouble we're having trying to save democracy, even though we're burning the Internet candle at both ends.

But when 1 or 50 or a 100 of us disappear one day, who would know? And when the disappearences are noticed, what would we do?

5. That is the difference people always cite.
Edited on Sat Dec-04-04 12:52 AM by Minstrel Boy
But here's the kicker: so what?

What difference have all the words here made?

Or all the votes, for that matter.

13. yes, but
the over-riding characteristic that Hitlers' Nazi Germany and Bush's Neocon America have in common is that both regimes are authoritarian and anti-democratic. In short: both are Despotic regimes.

14. It CAN happen ...
... that internet could be shut down and locked off pretty easily. It wouldn't stop the technically adept. But I'm sure that dissident communication in Germany was never "shut down" either.

MOST people in this country get their internet service through a handful of large providers. This is doubly so if you use broadband. Don't think they couldn't tap your communications or shut you down.

Yes, it CAN HAPPEN. And the vigilance of the people is the ONLY thing that will stand in it's way!!!!
