3. Good for you
I bought a Canadian pin for my lapel when I was in Montreal. Now is can't find it. But, if I do, I will wear it just like George wears his little American flag on his lapel. I'm also taking up the French language.

4. It would be a great way to make a silent protest!
Canadian flags pins, stickers, etc. would make a powerful statement.

8. I agree.
It's a figurative way to emigrate to Canada. As a bonus, freepers heads would explode when they saw you...

5. That's very kind...
Did you know that, immediately after Sept. 11, 2001, you could not find an American flag in Canada if your life depended on it? Shops were completely sold out across the nation, all flying in solidarity with our friends down south.

Not trying to sound overly dramatic, but wouldn't you risk getting your house vandalized or something similar if you were to fly a Canadian flag tonight? Things don't feel very rosey if your media is any indication right now. Just a thought.

But, we're all living in a free society, right? Do what your heart tells you!!!

Peace, my friend.

6. I doubt my house would be vandalized...
I live in NY which is pretty liberal. In fact, through conversations with many of my neighbors, I'm under the impression that many of them want NY to seceed from the US and join Canada.

9. I've done that, off and on, for years
Of course, I live in Saginaw, Michigan and, with three Tim Horton's shops and an Ontario Hockey League franchise, we're pretty Canadian here, anyhow.
I've lived in this house since 1961. All the neighbors know my family is, err, eccentric and they'd never think of bothering us (me) over such a trivial matter as which flag flies out front.
John
Mostly because they suspect I'd burn their house down if they did, probably, but still...

10. Just wanted to say I've been very touched and humbled
Edited on Wed Dec-01-04 01:28 AM by Minstrel Boy
by all the kind words from so many of you for my country in recent days.

A speaker at the candlelight vigil tonight in Toronto said our home cannot be safe if the neighbourhood is going up in flames. Canada belongs to the global neighbourhood, and we're going to share it's fate whether we like it or not. So regardless of what side of the border we're on, all good neighbours share the same struggle, and have a common enemy.

Living next door to the United States has always been a blessing and a curse. The curse today is self-evident and acute. The blessing is knowing there are millions of folks like you who are wishing us well and watching our backs. That means a great deal to me. So thanks, eh.

:hi:

11. I would love to see a northbound brain drain...
An exodus of educated and skilled workers heading to your fine country. Canada would benefit by having productive immigrants willing to contribute to the society, and the corporate leaders and politicians here in the US would see the consequences of their actions.
Viva Canada! Love you! :loveya:
