Do those yellow ribbons include support for gay troops?
Does all this support mean that gay soldiers can come out of the closet now? Are the red-staters ready to admit that some of the soldiers they are supporting are gay? I'd like to see one of those holiday messages say "I just want to say Hi and I love you to my partner, Jim."

3. Have gay soldiers now earned the right to be open?
Is the support only if they "don't tell" or can they talk openly about their sacrfice, their partners, their children?

10. They don't bring it up in ranks
because it is illegal to do so. That is the crux of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". A member of the service can be as gay as they want as long as they do not tell, and as long as the military doesn't ask them directly at time of enlistment, nor can they go on any directed "Gay Hunts".

The down side is that if someone who is gay were to get caught in a compromising position, their career would be over.

I personally don't care about the what my sailors do with their personal lives, so long as it doesn't put others lives in jeopardy.

If it didn't, I'd take mine off right now.

4. So, why not have a gay holiday message?
Why not show a guy sending his love to his partner, and his greetings to the guys at the bar?

8. How would you suggest I do this?
I'm not gay, nor do I frequent gay bars.

11. If you mean from the troops...
It would be the same as admitting to being gay, which is not permitted under "Don't Ask, Don't tell".

6. The money for my sticker
went directly to our local Guard unit to buy them body armor. I have no idea whether the personnel are gay or straight, I support them all. I have heard Guardsmen coming back from Iraq saying they would welcome gay troops, because it would mean an extra soldier to protect their back....

13. Of course not...
don't you know that the operators behind the yellow ribbons don't think gays are even in the military?
