Ewww...I'm the subject of a Free Republic thread
The Freepers gloating on Nov. 4, making fun of us. I made reference to Kerry being an "honorable, great statesman" and one of them calls me "braindead" for believing that after reading Kerry's 1971 testimony :eyes:

One was nice to me - slammed DU in the process though.

To: ambrose
Apart from his horrible judgment of character, this "liberalpragmatist" guy sounds like he actually has a soul and some common sense. He won't last long at DU.

Sorry, guys. Seriously.

The "nicest" comment was by someone who refuse to gloat and was like "I know exactly how they feel. I remember 1992."

poke sharp needles into my eyes then EVER visit Free Republic.. much less listen to a bunch of uneducated loonies and attempt to decipher their grammatical errors.

On edit: This to add. How can they think that because he testified about the autrocities of war and was honest about it he isn't a great statesman? All he did was tell the truth. I pointed out to a freeper friend of mine that the man has devoted more than 20 years of his life to public service. If anything he deserves respect for that. I doubt congress is alot of fun and in reality it doesn't pay THAT much.

Its never enjoyable to get the attention of freepers. They're like "lord of the flies" on their little island of hate (freeper message boards).

Do yourself a favor and don't visit again. Why? They're insane to most objective parties looking in. Gee, even DOJ are probably more concerned about wing-nuts going fringe right than us free thinking Democrats expressing our considered opinions.

Yes, it smites to be derided by anyone and I admit, that saying, "Consider the source" doesn't help. But hell, like REALLY consider the source, i.e., easily led, authority seeking and (mostly) groups of people filled with hate.

Earl? Do you hear me ... you MORAN?!? <snicker>

4. Hmmm
maybe they shouldn't be throwing out the word "braindead" so liberally. What's that saying? "People who live in glass houses..."?

7. remember, it's mostly projection

Show me Freepers talking about 'soul' and 'common sense' and I'll show you people who have no idea what either one really is. They always imagine they do, of course.

The effect is to make their site read so Orwellian and yet so humanly pathetic and vain at the same time. It always reminds me of my grandmother's opinion of the Nazis, who she suffered under for several years: small and mean people, with crimps in their souls that made them even smaller and meaner, with small and mean desires, all of them, masked by their supposition that they knew everything worth knowing and could will anything into being.

Can't we do better? I'm sorry, this hurts. Is this the best we can do? Get recognition from Free Repubs or Protest Warriors? Come on......! I want more. I want the Ukrainians, here helping us to teach democracy in action, F' football and all the rest of the distractions, we should already all be in Washington, we could have done it.

Let's Act in the the Democratic Emergency
by Ronnie Dugger

We are in an American emergency. It is the emergency of all our American emergencies. Along with the Civil War, this is our second crisis of legitimacy, but more, it is the culminative crisis of our identity. Are we a democracy, or have we irreversibly degenerated into a Presidential-corporate-military dictatorship? Are we still a good country, or are we becoming a bad country? Can we understand and act in the emergency well and fast enough, or will we lose the United States as we know it?

But as we approach the national election three months away, we have slowly awakened to realize, too, that this quite general American emergency is focusing down into an historic democratic emergency.

We are losing our window of opportunity.

the masses feel the PAIN of unilateral rule by Republicans. Face it, us Americans, as a people, are spoiled and NOT paying attention. We must do what we can, but also show patience. The sheeple have to feel continuous and INTENSE pain with regard to loss of jobs, lifestyle and loss of their beloved Sons and Daughters BEFORE they will climb aboard the social justice bandwagon.

We must not become discouraged because despite our best efforts we will NOT have power without swarms of discontented masses. That TAKES TIME, PATIENCE and PERSISTENCE since we (True Democratic Progressives) also don't have unlimited resources (not much money and politically out of power).

10. They will never believe that they were wrong.
For them "The Charge of the Light Brigade" is honorable. There's not to wonder why, there's but to do and die.

Now, it's one thing for them to go into battle knowing they won't come out alive, but it's another thing to indoctrinate innocent young men to do the same.
