"3 Americans died in Iraq today....not a word on the news!"
That was the header of the below posting on LBN:

3 Americans died in Iraq today....not a word on the news!

This morning, while listening to NPR 'news' - I heard a three second announcement that TWO, not THREE American military deaths in Iraq. The statement was hurriedly made right before the weather report. Ten minutes of other 'news' precended the statement. No details were given, only the brief mention was made...and this was NPR, not a corporate news network.

I rushed to find more details on the Internet. AP Breaking haad no mention. Excite and Yahoo new said nada. CNN was blank. I located the details on a CHINA NEWS site....which had the details of an AP account of the deaths. I submitted the story to TvNewsLies.org

Folks...a link will be on the TVNL news page, if you want the details. We're in a news blackout. NOTHING about the occupation of Iraq, nothing about Afghanistan, (2 Americans killed there, as well) - nothiing about recounts in Ohio and NH. We're in deep, deep trouble. The media... ALL OF IT....is playing ball with the White House. Understand that, fight back, get the truth from any alternative source that offers it, spread the word, and there may be hope.

Link to the WAR news on TVNL if you're interested in what's going on:
http://www.tvnewslies.org/news/#war

It seems to have been "locked" for the below reason:
...until it's reported by a reputable news outlet, it's not considered Latest Breaking News and is not allowed in this forum. People can put whatever they want on the internet, and whilst mainstream journalism is questionable, alternate sources are even moreso.

I just made a Google-search of the following phrase: "Iraqi teenagers dragged two bloodied U.S. soldiers from a wrecked vehicle and pummeled them with concrete blocks Sunday, witnesses said, describing the killings as a burst of savagery in a city once safe for Americans" and got 308 hits, including many from "mainstream journalists".

1. I am astounded daily
by what is happening in Iraq and news I read on DU contrasted by what we don't hear on the MSM. I have had my head in the sand for many years apparently. Was news during Viet Nam shared (or not) in this manner? I guess I had always taken news as gospel and am now learning that there's a lot of things 'they' are not telling us. Welcome to the world, I guess. It still saddens me/pisses me off.

2. I haven't watched tV in ~7 years,
and rarely do more than glance at the Mainstream Media. But with a good DSL connection, I can keep pretty well abreast of what has happened, what is happening, and will most likely happen.

For that I can thank DU, and I check this site frequently during the day. It isn't because everyone here thinks the same way I do. It's because WHATEVER appears here, gets a good working over by some very knowledgable (and intellectually HONEST) people. I then have enough info to make my own informed Google-searches.

4. That does it;
it's DEFINITELY not LBN (although still relevant to ongoing events).

This is what I meant in my above posting about anything that appears here, gets a good working over by knowledgable (and eagle-eyed) people.

5. Thanks for the update, P.
I have learned not to trust mainstream media. That's why I keep returning to this site. I put my TV in the garage, and I see no reason to bring it back inside.

I get all my news on the Internet, and here at the DU.

6. The admins motto: out of site, out of mind.
Totally disgraceful.
