From hedda_foil re Recounts and "friendly journalists," etc.

I finally had a chance to talk to Joan (hedda_foil) of Help America Recount and the National Ballot Integrity Project tonight for a bit, and she wanted me to pass along how absolutely ECSTATIC she and the people she's working with were to have that list of "friendly journalists" which DUers pulled together so quickly recently. A new DUer, madrigal (so new I couldn't PM her with my email address for a while), did the important work of pulling all those names, etc., together into an Excel file so it was usable -- thanks so much, madrigal!! Joan said the list was "hot property" and in near constant use.

Help America Recount and the other groups involved lined up a professional communications team (Fenton Communications) who are working with this list (as well as their own contacts, of course), and she wanted all of you to know that in the days/weeks ahead, as you see news stories coming out with some of the folks you identified, you'll know it was YOUR work that made that possible. :-) We cut off our conversation briefly while the Aaron Brown segment ran, and she said afterwards that she attributed that coverage directly to the high-level professional work Fenton is doing.

There's a LOT going on, and she's right in the thick of it like ya'll wouldn't believe. Because her DU time is limited to nonexistent these days, I try to pass on to her those DU threads which seem especially noteworthy or important, and she's passed most if not all of them on to the attorneys and others (strategists, etc.) who are working on this whole recount effort.

This is the 527 that Joan and others formed to specifically help fund and promote the recounts. They're looking at a lot of other states and, as I said, a lot is going on behind the scenes.

I'm so proud of her AND all the incredible work DUers have done on this. The stats, analysis, news, and record we have accumulated is awesome.

Apparently the Iowa vote qualifies for a recount, since less than 1.5%, BUT
it must be requested by 11/29, and must be requested by one of the candidates? Anyone working on this?

DU is the think tank for this cause, guys. Even though I'm missing my daily fix, whenever there's a question that calls for research from the very high powered group I'm working with, I tell them that I'm working with an incredible group of researchers who can find out just about everything in practically no time.

And, you always, always, come through. Every time! And everything I'm doing right now, when it comes right down to it, I owe directly to DU. :grouphug:

The most important thing I want to tell you, beyond how grateful I am to all of you for your unbelievable help, is that we're no longer alone in the wilderness. There are very influential people working just as hard to expose the horror of our voting system as we all have worked these past two years. DU researched every aspect of BBV. DU has been Bev's sounding board from the beginning. DU provided the computer savvy and analytical muscle to understand what was going on inside the black boxes, and now DU is on the front lines again.

I am so proud and grateful for our community, for all of you, and for my very dear friend, who I feel like I have known forever, the great goddess of DU research.

In case anyone doesn't know we've made a movie about voter's rights and this election, it would help if you spread the word, it's fun, educational, and informative.

We don't expect to make our money back on this but we put our award winning heads together and did it anyway.. If there is anything Heddafoil or Idabriggs want to add to our film at the end to promote their sites/work, we'll be glad to do that.. We can promote on TBTM as well..
