Bushco wants to drug you and your children, house and senate ok with it
Edited on Mon Nov-22-04 05:22 PM by Melodybe
That's right folks the New Freedom Initative passed the house last week and in the Senate on Saturday. I just got off the phone with Rep. Ron Paul's office myself. Hidden deep down in their new omni-bus spending bill are parts about testing all public school children for mental illness and it is a precursor to test ALL Amercians for mental disabilities. No word on parental consent. No word on what constitutes a mental disability.

THX 1138 and a Brave New World here we come!

Don't believe me call your senator and ask them all about it:

As a former teacher and later a mental health counselor and later a private practice psychologist...this is bad..this is serious...actually, this is unbelievable...and the country is just sitting by and letting this happen. I am hysterical because it is amazing to me.

12. the kids are just the beginning folks.
Bush wants EVERY AMERICAN tested...
Read about the test and what it means..

http://www.mindfreedom.org/mindfreedom/bush_psychiatry.shtml
Also remember the disabled and mentally ill went to the gas chambers first,(eugenics has always been a war on what self declared elitists call "weak")It started with the disabled because people did not care about them in Nazi Germany, because in that utilitarian culture they were seen as "useless eaters".
Beware what bush does to hurt the homeless, drug users, sexually different, prisoners, the retarded, mentally ill and the disabled.Kids women and men.. Your future could be seen by watching what happens to them and by time it's your turn to go it's too late to fight because you assumed it could not happen to you.
Protecting the weak from the predatory strong and thier idealogies is one way to ensure tyrants never get control over YOU.

8. The "New Freedom Initiative" -- How very Orwellian.
Kids will have the New Freedom to be drugged into a stupor in school so they won't act up in class? And which kids will be given the, er, benefit of that New Freedom? Probably, mostly poor and minority kids so the keepers of the budget won't have to put more money into crappy schools for the purpose of actually educating the kids, while the drug companies make more money peddling their stuff. Just keep the kids gorked out on sedatives until they get old enough to join the Army.

How the fuck did this happen? Where were the Democrats? Who voted for this? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??

11. Wow! Look at all the tin foil!
How did this initiative get changed from one in which sschool children are tested for mental disabilities (actually, so that they can be placed in Special Education instead of continuing to stay in a normal classroom and not learning anything), to one in which all school children will be mandatorily doped up?
Sheesh. C'mon guys.

Is it true that the Bush administration has announced a plan to screen all Americans for "mental illness"?

Yes, this is true. The British Medical Journal (BMJ July 2004) reported that Bush plans to unveil a sweeping mental health initiative that would screen every single American for "mental illness."

As predicted, President Bush did endorse the plans promoted by the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health. A task force was initiated to evaluate the current mental health industry and look for ways that it could be improved. These plans include screening every single American, with youth as a priority, for signs of "mental illness."

http://bmj.bmjjournals.com/cgi/content/full/328/7454/1458

(www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/newfreedom/toc-2004.html). While some praise the plan's goals, others say it protects the profits of drug companies at the expense of the public.

Bush established the New Freedom Commission on Mental Health in April 2002 to conduct a "comprehensive study of the United States mental health service delivery system." The commission issued its recommendations in July 2003. Bush instructed more than 25 federal agencies to develop an implementation plan based on those recommendations.

The president's commission found that "despite their prevalence, mental disorders often go undiagnosed" and recommended comprehensive mental health screening for "consumers of all ages," including preschool children. According to the commission, "Each year, young children are expelled from preschools and childcare facilities for severely disruptive behaviours and emotional disorders." Schools, wrote the commission, are in a "key position" to screen the 52 million students and 6 million adults who work at the schools.

21. u jest...or what? this is about identification and drugging.
There is not now adequate funding for school or community mental health..and funding has been cut yet again..and again and again. This is not about mental health..it is about identification, labels and drugging the population..starting with the children.

22. Tin foil? Are you a parent?
I have a 3 kids, 1 has a learning disability. You think I need the fucking government to tell me that? If what you say is true then why after 2 years of attempts can my childs school not afford to get him the "special help" he needs? I am so lucky that he has dedicated and caring teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty to make up for the fact that I can't afford a special school and that they don't have the money to properly deal with kids who need extra help.
And it's not just kids. Read the bill. You are next. Unless you think that you need the government to tell you you have mental problems then you might want to re-think your position...

I am still waiting for someone to read the bill (which I have done) on senate.gov and point out to me where it says it is now mandatory that our children will be forceably drugged by the government.

Ay Ay Ay.

18. just an old memory -
vaguely I remember Nixon's people tried to get something like this done back in his first term and it went nowhere. Sorry I don't recall any details but I was paying attention then because the local school wanted the pediatrician to put my child on Ritalin because he was a "discipline problem". He could not participate in the gifted kids program for which he otherwise qualified because he was a "discipline problem". His pediatrician refused to drug him, thank goodness, but referred me to reading about this government proposal. I wonder if this is the same thing and will really try to see if I have any of the old publications lying around.

I haven't been paying enough attention to school-related issues since I don't have school-age kids but this convinces me we all need to pay more attention. This is much worse, in reality, than the tax return provision they tried to sneak into the spending bill.

24. Well look at it this way. . .
. . . if they do manage to make it to where all Americans are screened for "mental illness" we will have a good idea of the outcome.

It'll be found that roughly 1/2 of the population has a "mental illness," either its those * voters, or us "wacky" liberals; and with * and his cronies running the show, well. . . you get the picture.

26. You may want to look into the laws regarding institutionalizing individual
In some states, all it requires is a judge's order to throw you into a psychiatric ward for three days. Once there, injectables are not optional.

35. Well, get upset on THIS level then:
It's about getting more money to big pharma. Even without the tin-foil, this thing is bad: screening kids NOT to get them counseling, but to get them drugs (see Texas Medication Algorithm program, on which this is based).

I think it sucks, however you look at it.

do take head out of sand! No one wants to hear this stuff...but it is happening...cant blame ya though! I dont want to believe it either! Before this...all testing and all treatment in schools required parental consent...that is when it is "available to all". This new law takes that option away from parents..and makes it manditory to comply...and it will be done without your consent..no notes sent home for your signature. You will not even be informed.
