The quality of jobs being created in the New Bush Economy sucks.
Big Time as Cheney would say.Even the professionals, battered by competition from overseas, have muted their wage demands and this has clearly had an effects on the salaries for experienced professionals. Those who are employed for ten years or more are running scared of losing their jobs either to younger people or to overseas workers.Fear is stalking corporate corridors. The automotive industry, decimated by competitors from Germany and Japan is trying to get rid of as many middle managers as it can. Many suppliers to the auto industry are feeling the squeeze too.It seems to be either move to India or China or Mexico or perish.

In the next few years, our middle class, or whatever is left of it, will have to learn to survive on rice and beans. We are likely to see a stagnant wage structure and galloping inflation ( $3.00 a gallon gas anyone?). Nice combination if you ask me.

Sundry Rightwingnut Thugs . . . want all this "out-sourcing" stuff and such, then claim "family values" attesting that divorce is on the upswing because of the "moral decay" of Liberals . . . uuummmm?

Doncha love it? Hey, maybe mom would stay home if it weren't economically unfeasible for her to do so as jobs get "outsourced" overseas and are replaced, here, w/ lower paying jobs requiring BOTH PARENTS TO WORK OUT OF THE HOME !!

But then again, why should we expect the rightwingnuts to understand this as they voted once again for their "fearless" and "moral" leader who sends our sons and daughters into a needless war?!

3. they don't get it
The kind of jobs out there are the kind that pay squat so much so that many have to work two of them just to stay alive. Many have to work those "graveyard" shift hours which plays hell on family life. At the same time they expect the women to stay home and "breed",take care of their offspring, medically, nutritionally. It's difficult for families to have "quality time" when parents are overworked, finances are strained and the main topics end up being bills and being under employed and underpaid.

I was out of work for 3 years, after 9/11.

Finally, took a job in a different field, because thare are none in mine, and I'm earning 1/3 of what I did in 2001.

But, hey, Bush is creating jobs! Lots of low paying ones.

It's not quality, it's quantity that matters!

But, this drum has been beat a lot. The idiot doesn't care about anyone but his rich friends. I'd say that is apparently clear.

6. I have many friends with families to support who find themselves in
the same boat as you are. Both husband and wife have to work because the pay is too low for each one.Almost every item on their budeget has gone up.Now gas prices have doubled, with it food, clothing and all items needed have gone up. Making ends meet is a daily struggle. But Bush has wars to fight, he has no time for mundane matters like feeding our children or taking care of them when they get ill.

8. and don't you just love..
when he says he will send us all back to school?

What about those with MBA's?

And those he does send to school? I want to know if he'll be paying their rent, food and clothing bills while they go to school. If so, I'm in.

:P

7. Some areas of the country seem to be weathering better than others ...
... the area I live in is looking to hire quite a few various higher-technology positions - and not just temporary hires either. Almost all require a degree though.
