Was it just me, or was Big Dog looking really old?
I know the guy just had a major operation, but during the interview with Peter Jennings, I was thinking "damn, Big Dog, you're looking old."

Older than a 58 year old ought to look.

I hope his health is ok.

1. He looked tired
He said he did not have the stamina he had before surgery. It was probably a long day.

3. He looks really good for 58.
He's just lost a lot of weight... and his hair was rather flat and limp I assume due to the rain/moisture in the air today.

4. He looked like a guy who just had heart surgery
He's still recovering. I know about open heart first hand. The recovery is very long. Six months or more until you're back to 100% is not unusual. Give him time. He'll be back strong again. But time is the operative (no pun intended) word.

5. I kept worrying that the guy holding his umbrella wasn't keeping him
covered. Didn't it look like he was getting soaked more and more as he spoke? My husband said, "The LAST thing he needs now is to get sick."

I hope he's taking it easy these days.

6. I was thinking that he's starting to resemble Jimmy Carter!
They both looked calm and focused, though -- compared to Dubya's dad, who seemed a bit jumpy. And Dubya himself is looking really old -- if I didn't know, I'd have thought that he and his father were within 10 years of each other. WJC seems to have lost quite a bit of weight -- his face especially looked thinner. But given what he's been through lately, no wonder. I hope he'll get better soon, Sandpiper.

7. That surgery is nasty and takes a lot out of one for a bit of time.
It was probably not wise for him to have gone out campaigning with Kerry. Anyone who has had a bypass or been with a loved one who has really knows the effort the Big Dawg made.

It takes time and a slow, deliberate effort to build up stamina after such an invasive proceedure. And your legs hurt like hell from what I have observed.

The man needs time and he didn't give that to himself. He went out and worked for the party. We need to ask him to please accept our thanks and take the time to recover that he really needs. It would be better to have him quiet for a bit so that he can come back roaring when he is really better.

Take it easy, President Clinton. We really are grateful. Some of us know what that took. Please take care and heal well. We will fight again another day.

8. that's what my uncle said too ...
He showed me the scar on his leg, from his bypass -- said that it hurt for the longest time.

I'm hoping that it wasn't too cold today, because it's bad enough to be sitting out there in the damp, without a chill as well. And Jimmy Carter is getting on in years too -- I was concerned about him as well.

WJC's had quite the year -- the book, the surgery, and the campaign -- any ONE of those things would be exhausting for someone 20 or 30 years younger. I hope that he lets himself recuperate fully before he charges into a new project.

10. He definitely has that post bypass look
I have seen many who have had that surgery and they all look drawn and thin for months after.

I am impressed as heck with his campaigning and being out today.

Now I hope he gets some rest and relaxation and comes back roaring

12. He's looking old and tired. I was very concerned about the way he
looked yesterday. He needs some rest. He's been going nonstop since he came out to campaign for K/E.

14. He had the "30-year class reunion" look
He's lost some weight and his hair color has gone.

Looks about normal for a man his age who is trying to stay fit.

15. Clinton will probably be OK.
He probably has outright refused to take it easy since he got up to campaign for Kerry--and then he had the Library opening to get through. You couldn't have kept him from doing either thing with a gun! He lives for the energy and the love that audiences radiate back to him, but I'll betcha he'll sleep for a couple of days now.

And, oh, he will sleep soundly, knowing that he is legit--that nobody has to sign a loyalty oath or be bussed in from Bible Camp to fill the seats when he speaks. Hell, he can walk down a street in broad open daylight if he wants to.

bu$h can dream of none of these things.

16. He looked old and tired
As one would expect from someone who has just had bypass surgery. He'll bounce back soon. He's gonna be just fine.
