Just For Shits, Giggles, And Revolution.. What If The Electoral College...
Edited on Thu Nov-18-04 10:29 PM by WillyT
actually ended up giving this thing to Kerry?

I don't think it's gonna happen, but...

Supposedly there was one elector somewhere, that said they would vote for Kerry no matter what their state did. And with the continuing revelations of possible voter fraud, one could fantasize (yeah, I know) about a scenario where other electors, caught in the grips of patriotic responsibility, jumped ship for Kerry.

In this highly unlikely scenario...

What would happen next?

1. I dunno....
but my teenage son always says "shits and giggles" not "fits and giggles" -- so which is it? Or is one like the "oh, shoot!" version of "oh, shit"?

2. In some states it is a crime
for an elector to defy the will of the people of that state. Some states call for the immediate removal of a faithless elector, some can even prosecute.

But some don't, and whoever gets 271 electoral votes is the new president, that's the way it goes.

5. I think there is one in Virginia
that is not voting for Bush*.

I don't know what the odds are - of your dream happening - but I don't think it's impossible - esp. if it were obvious that he didn't _really_ get the votes that some think he did.

7. It is funny you brought that up here on DU

I was thinking along a similiar line myself, the electorial college votes could serve up justice and demostrate that right is might, that the citizens' right to vote and have it counted is far more important over one man's dream to be a dictator and to degrade our homeland further then he already has to date, to send more of our men & women to die in an emtpy war. I had a dream of such glory and duty met, not to be subjected to a liers court or election but to that of a higher court, that being their duty to up hold the citizenship of American ....... I shall dream again in hope that one day this type of hero will raise up in my country.

10. There is an Republican elector from W. Virginia
who said he would vote for Kerry a couple of weeks ago on the Al Franken show. He doesn't approve of Bush's presidency. I wonder if others might feel the same way?

11. I was JUST thinking about this!
I'll keep my fingers crossed. But again, JK would not be a very effective president in such circumstances.
