I know Clinton is being civil as an ex-prez and all, but why.....
does he always state how much he loves *? He said today that he loves both Kerry and * and that they are both good people who just have philosophical differences. His tone also was one of telling Democrats to stop whining about and attacking * so much.

Look, I don't expect Clinton to say anything negative about * in any way out of respect from an ex-prez. And I don't mind him saying small positive things about * either, but he really goes above and beyond to praise *.

While Clinton generally guided the country in the right direction, we must remember that he is one of the founders of the "centrist" DLC, and catered to many big business interests in lighter form (i.e. the term "Republican-lite"). If he was not such a talented politician, I have my doubts to whether he would have won in 1992. Despite his talent and charm, he only pulled 43%. Even though Perot pulled Republicans, he also pulled a significant number of Dems who were skeptical of Clinton's centrism and semi-pro (before the election) stance on NAFTA.

All I am saying that while Clinton did a lot of good things as president, we must not get seduced by his charm and ignore the big-business Republican-lite actions of his administration (deregulation; monopolistic mergers; welfare reform; the rich getting richer and poor getting poorer - although at a slower rate than Reagan and *).

2. Because Clinton is and always will be a politician before he is a Dem.
It's odd though because I personally would see more political points to gain by pointing out what sick pile of shit the chimp really is instead of getting on my knees for him. But I guess me and Clinton will have to be in disagreement on this.

10. You are so right!
I noticed that at one point when Shrub was speaking, Clinton looked like he zoned out. Shrub said something that made people laugh, and Clinton looked at Hillary like 'why are they laughing?' She then told him what Shrub had said.

12. But he has a lot of respect
For the office of the Presidency. It was his lifes goal. And it hasn't always been held by a low-life, scum-sucking #!&^%!*@!.

7. You answered your own question
And you are complicating something that is very simple. He's being civil. Just like Bush Sr. and Junior are.

14. I am perfectly fine with him saying positives about *
but I just think he really laid it on overly thick today. Given that he catered to many similar $$$ interests as * (including Ken Lay, whom Clinton played golf with after arranging the deal for Enron to build its power in Dabhol, India), I sometimes wonder if Clinton has a semi-friendship with the Bushes.

Obviously, I would take Clinton in a heartbeat over any Republican, but Michael Moore probably said it best - Clinton has good intentions at heart, but there are times where he loses touch with his working class roots.

8. There a few things you need to amend.
The poor didn't get poorer when Clinton was Pres. Yes, he did OK welfare reform, but was that really a BAD THING? O dpn;t think it was bad at all.

I have onl;y two problems with Clinton as President.

1. He Ok'd NAFTA, and I agree with Perot...you now hear the giant sucking sound!

2. I want to kick him square in the....for not keeping his zipper zipped! I believe he could have been recognized at one of the greatest Presidents of the century, but he sucumbed to the taunts of an agressive little chippy with a thong. Sure, I'd like to do the same to Monica, but unfortunately, it does take two!

I still think he was very good as President, and as an ex-President too. You won't be hearing the last of BC!

Mena.

Clinton was compromised as Governor by Bush's Iran-Contra drug-smuggling.

The right wag Mena as Clinton's crime, but it's not. It was Bush's, but Clinton helped cover it up, and also benefited politically by playing a dirty game.

13. This has been debunked over and over again
Snopes, David Brock, etc. has debunked this. Mena was the creation of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. But yeah, they're credible.

15. Mena isn't a fiction, and it isn't the fantasy of Falwell.

Read Whiteout for starters, by Alexander Cockburn and Jeffrey St Clair.

I know it's an uncomfortable truth for some Democrats, and it's been wrongly interpreted by the Right's demagogues, but it's a stubborn truth, and is a significant part of Iran/Contra's drug story.

16. No thanks
It's been debunked and therefore not worth my time. But by all means, knock yourself out.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to go pick up a copy of World Weekly News. Turns out Bush is an alien. Who woulda thunk it?

11. whining and attacking Bush is no longer productive
I'm not sure it ever was. Look, I absolutely abhor this regime and what they have done, but we need to do something worthwhile like letting our Dems know we got their back for standing up to the man when they "go nuclear" with the judge appointments and whatnot.

And we can also focus on rocking their world in 2006. Santorum, Frist, and Delay just have to go!

Clinton tells off Peter Jennings!
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 02:59 AM by ArtieBoy

Is anyone watching this ABC special on Bill Clinton? Peter Jennings told Clinton that some presedential scholars had ranked him 41st, 44th, something like that, for moral authority. Bill began smouldering and said, "They're wrong. You know why? They're wrong. No president had $100 million dollars spent against him...and I really don't care what they think."

Peter Jennings said, "Oh, yes, you do, Mr. President. I can feel it from across the room."

Clinton said, "You don't wanna go there, Peter. You don't wanna go there." And then Clinton's finger came out and pointed right at Jennings and said, "Not after what YOU and the people at YOUR NETWORK did, repeating every sleazy thing Ken Starr leaked..."

It was amazing, and almost Jerry Springer-meets-Meet the Press-like. Absolutely amazing. I've just never seen a president so sharp and yet so...REAL...like this guy.

Do they make them like Bill Clinton anymore?
