We have two years to get out.
The range is anywhere from six months to three years. The infrastructure of oppression can now be built much more rapidly than in the first administration. But they will need some transition time before they actually start rounding us up--barring another "terrorist" attack.

If "terrorists" attack a US city tomorrow, we have maybe six months to get out of the country or go to the camps. Otherwise, I'd say they don't start until after the midterms. What do you think?

5. I'm starting my overseas job hunt
Scotland looks good. My father's father's side is from the Western Isles and apparently the govt. wants us back (overseas Scots).

3. First, they came for the drug dealers.
I didn't speak out because I wasn't a drug dealer.

Then, they came for the homeless. I didn't speak out because I wasn't homeless.

Then, they came for the Arabs and Muslims. I didn't speak out because I wasn't Arab or Muslim.

Then, they came for the radicals. I didn't speak out because I wasn't a radical.

Then, they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out.

The American Reich began with Reagan. My Jewish bones say now is the time to am-scray.

8. Well, jeez, if you're so upset,
continue to SPEAK OUT. Don't leave.

Pray tell, who have "they" come for so far? Ok, I'll grant you the so-called "American Taliban" who has been detained under the "Patriot" act... but, seriously, I wanna know. What indications are you seeing that make you think they're gonna all toss us in camps ASAP?

9. They've been wanting to for years
It's been done before in every major war, what else do you want? There are already 2 million people in prison, most for specious crimes. Malnutrition and TB, two of the biggest killers in the first Holocaust, are rampant in the US prison system. As far as I'm concerned, the holocaust is here, they just haven't come after run-of-the-mill liberals and pacifists yet.

20. With a GPS????
I don't know... I just don't buy "TANKS" getting lost on the streets of Los Angeles. I... for one, have never even seen a tank in a city, much less seen two tanks lost in a city. If it was a prank, maybe four or five hundred thousand of us should get lost wandering around the White House with assault rifles. Then we could say "It was just a prank." or we could say "We got lost.". After all, if a tank can get lost with a GPS system, you can't blame us for getting lost without a GPS system.

11. Aaaarggh!
We have enough real problems without making up problems to send people into a frenzy. The tanks were explained over and over and over again. I'm going to presume you didn't read those threads. They were there for Veteran's Day. They were not there to intimidate or disrupt protestors.

12. Yes and no.
They did have a legitimate reason to be in the vicinity.

But whoever was moving them made a conscious choice to go through a crowd of anti-war protesters. They obviously thought it would be funny. They could've tried to stay clear of the crowd or announced what they were doing.

It wasn't police state, but it was typical RW thuggishness.

23. Maybe, maybe not
I certainly wouldn't put it past a couple guys to go rile up the protestors.

Why couldn't they announce what they were doing? As I understand it, they did. But it wouldn't matter anyway, people choose to believe what they want. I don't understand why some people always, always, always choose to believe the worst. So many times during this campaign we focused on stupidity, made mountains out of molehills. We do it on DU all the time. People are going wild about the tanks, while a known intimidation, that woman in Virginia, goes almost unnoticed.

16. And who s saying they were not there to intimidate?
Why it's the ones that wouldn't mind alittle intimiation. You don't think they would amit it do you?
Just like they weren't the ones that put the "Mission Accomplished" banner up.
Sorry but I am skeptical about anything this government or their croonies say. I just assume it'salie, and usually it's right,

13. you can't round up HALF (or more) of the population
More than half think Bush is a crappy president.

This election radicalized some of my friends who didn't give a rat's ass during Bush's first four years, and if they start rounding up anyone left of Ann Coulter, they will piss off even more.

Things are just below the boiling point now. I wonder how far these guys are willing to push their luck before people realize how few are benefiting from their policies.

21. I'd rather have good people out than gassed
I don't care what you or Steve Gilliard think of me. I've been planning my exit for five years now, I hate living in this country for 1000 reasons most of which have nothing to do with Bush.

I think activists are going to be rounded up during this administration and I want to know others' opinions. You aren't even giving your opinion on whether or not this is going to happen. You are merely breaking DU rules by attacking me.
