Everytime I think about moving to Canada...
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 06:58 PM by PlanetBev
I hear something that makes me want to stay and fight. I went last night to a synagogue in Los Angeles to hear Dennis Kucinich, Ramona Ripston and Ed Asner speak. Dennis gave the most rousing speech I've ever heard and by the time he was done, the crowd was on fire and loaded for bear. He addressed the issue of depression among the Democrats and mentioned that he was really taken aback by the level of grief he saw at the college campuses he spoke to last week. No matter how depressed I feel, I'm always reminded that I'm never really alone with this.

Sometimes all it takes for me is a pep talk, or someone saying, "I'm going to tear off Pat Robertson's head and shit down his neck", and I'm ready to fight again.

What gets all of you going?

1. What gets me going is mainly two things:
1) I think of all the truly outstanding intellects and creative minds that are on our side, all of them determined to push back the darkness and hold up the light.

2) Knowing, to the very core of my being, that we are RIGHT!

3. I just hate to slink away with my tail tucked 'tween my legs...
I wouldn't mind a ring side seat while I watch the GOP tear themselves to pieces as the Puritans among them seek to purge all moderates in their ranks.

These bastards made a deal with the devil and now the devil must have his due.

8. Leaving isn't really an option for me no matter what.
I'm low income, 55 years old, no college degree, and no particularily marketable skills. I'd score pretty low on any country's immigration criteria.

Even if that weren't the case, I'm pretty sure I'd want to stay and fight. This is MY country, dammit!

2. Sh*t down Pat Robertson's neck?
Hey, if that doesn't cheer you up, then NOTHING will!

Get ready to take more cold showers.
Nova Scotia Power says it will be at least a few days before power to about 100,000 customers is fully restored after the season's first storm dumped up to 50 centimetres of snow, eliminating electricity in many areas of the province.

7. yeah in Victoria or Vancouver proper they get very little snow
different story nearby in the mountains, Whistler is hosting the 2010 winter games.

I remember watching the news one day while I was living up in the arctic, seeing a light snow storm hit Vancouver, was funny as hell, cars going off the road, people making homemade snow shovels out of javex bottles and broomsticks.

so there is always the potential, even there.

5. We need to stay and fight!
Voter fraud gets me going! How dare they steal elections! How dare they talk of bringing "democracy" to Iraq, when they are doing the exact opposite, and when they are trying steal it here! Like President Gore says, "How dare they!"

13. I understand how you're feeling, fugue
What's difficult to deal with is my taxes are going to invade, bomb and kill the citizens of another country that didn't attack us. I want my taxes to pay for healthcare for all those who need it, good schools, etc. I want my government to be representative of me. Instead, it represents the interests of the religiously insane.
