Is there a link for the execution video yet?
Apparently the American media are not showing it at all. They're purposely blacking out the offending shot.

I myself have not seen it yet. That said. Everybody needs to see the video. Capture a relevant image. And link and post it everywhere possible. The poor guy was shot in our name. The least we can do is see it and show it.

3. It's not blacked out, and it's not sensational. So relax.
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 06:36 PM by BlueEyedSon
You basically can't see anything.

And concentrating on one death (which could have been an "insurgent") is sorta missing the point, dontcha think?

9. You're right, what's more disturbing is...
the fact that 1000's of men have been rounded up in Fallujah on the suspicion they are insurgents. The assumption is that if you're 18-49 and still in the city - you are an insurgent.

Soon they'll be at my front door asking why I haven't left home.

4. This is one reason why Americans are so dumb
about what is going on. Many terrible things are happening, and the news here never says a word about it. Just like they pretended the entire world didn't protest us going into Iraq in the first place....

11. THAT's IT???
What the hell? This is the war crime DUers are screaming about?

Shooting a wounded combatant is not in itself a war crime. Just because someone is wounded doesn't mean they themselves can't kill a Marine, and that U.S. troops can't continue to shoot him. We can't see what this guy is doing, or if he still had a weapon in his hand. Being wounded doesn't mean there is a "time out" and people have to help you.

Sorry DU, but this is pretty piss poor if you are citing it as evidence of a war crime.

I mucked around their video links until I saw this: "10:00 update" It's in that clip, after a smoking ban story. I can't see it in my history. Sorry.

There is a night-and-day difference between this situation and the one involving Gus Covarrubias, who *is* a war criminal: he told the soldier to turn around, then shot him twice in the back of the head, taking personal effects as "souveniers".

23. How is that a summary execution?
Edited on Mon Nov-15-04 07:25 PM by Devil Dog Dem
You don't even know what the guy is doing.
Was he lying down? Was he standing up? Was he armed? Unarmed? Hell you can't even tell us if he was conscious.

All you know is that a Marine says he was wounded, and that another Marine fires his weapon and says "he's done" (or words to that effect). Even if the guy was wounded, and then shot by the other Marine, shooting a combatant is allowed, even when he is wounded. So how do you know he wasn't a combatant? I can't say one way or another, but you are making the accusation.

Pretty strong accusation your making, where's your evidence?

27. WHOA! MY BAD! SORRY TO HAVE UNLOADED ON YOU!
I agree with you. No excuse for that guy's actions (maybe a manslaughter type plea, just like if you killed your wife's lover in a rage, but no blanket excuse).

Sorry man, I feel like a Dick Cheney now for "getting in your face"

31. You're wrong too.
Read more about it, those Iraqis were wounded the day before, disarmed and were awaiting medical care or to be evacuated to a prison camp, or hospital, or somewhere, when these sensational guys came in and murdered one of them that dared to breath.

It was cold-blooded, sick-ass, stupid shit that happens when cowards send kids into dishonorable situations like Fallujah.

It was another video that does NOT show a war crime -- at least not clear evidence of a war crime, as advertised.

21. No need for aid, say marines
No need for aid, say marines
From correspondents in Fallujah
November 15, 2004

The US military says it sees no need for the Iraqi Red Crescent to deliver aid to people inside Fallujah, and does not think any Iraqi civilians are trapped inside the city.

"There is no need to bring (Red Crescent) supplies in because we have supplies of our own for the people," said US Marine Colonel Mike Shupp.

"Now that the bridge (into Fallujah) is open I will bring out casualties and all aid work can be done here (at Fallujah's hospital)."

He said he had not heard of any Iraqi civilians being trapped inside the city and did not think that was the case.
