CBC News "Deadline Iraq, Uncensored Stories of the War"
"This was the war you didn't see...images banned by the military and banned by media organizations"....CBC Canada

Did anyone here see this powerful documentary a year ago on CBC network from Canada? In some ways I found it more powerful than F-911, and this film came out half a year sooner than Moore's film did. The only reason I got to see it is because I live fairly close to the border and our cable affiliate picks up CBC as one of its stations. Anyway, this film should be seen by everyone. It really hits home just how horrific this war is, especially on the Iraqi people, and it's a shame how the US media is doing everything to hide this aspect of the war. If anyone here hasn't seen this film, make sure you do. I'm not even sure it's available on video, though. BTW, the short video clip that the website provides does no justice to the rest of the film. You'd have to see it all, especially the second half, to see what this film is really about. I'm sure our corrupt government would never allow this film to be shown by our mainstream media. Interestingly, I called the two video rental stores near me and neither one carried it. Hmmm. Major kudos to CBC for producing this film a year ago. I wish they would re-broadcast it. Here's the link to it: http://www.cbc.ca/deadlineiraq/#. I read online that it can be downloaded at http://freedocumentaries.org/ although I haven't followed up on that yet because I've seen it.

5. from Québec ,Canada
Watching the news this week end, I saw (again) the difference between canadian and american media.

The US CNN: no civil casualties in Fallujha.

Canada SRC (CBC in french): According to american amy spokperson there is no casualties...

8. Not to be taken seriously
The CBC (with more libel judgments against it than all other media outlets combined) is so notorious for bias and inaccuracy that it's largely ignored.

9. BS!
CBC is an excellent news outlet! Please prove your outrageous claim with some stats, etc. What is it about CBC that scares you, is it because they dare to REPORT the news instead of create it?

Or I'll write you off as a (masquerading?) Canuck freeper. (Sadly, they exist.)

I'm waiting. And don't forget, you may be talking to an employee of the Mother Corp.

edit: spelling.

13. As I recall,
this one was talking up a Conservative victory in last Spring's election.

10. Honestly, not meaning to gloat here, but...
We've come to expect this level of quality and professionalism in our news/documentary/features coverage. 24/7.

Example: Yesterday (Sunday), while you folks were watching James Carville and Mary Matlin go at it again for the 1000th time, Crossfire-style (WTF? Don't they take Sunday off?), I spent the morning channel surfing through OUR Meet-The-Press-type Sunday morning programming. Across the dial, the hot topic of the day? How we're just never gonna see the disaster unfolding in Fallujah - at this very moment - due to the, um, "limitations" of embedded reporting with the US military.

All morning, I listened to: freelancers from London, videographers from the Middle East, writers from New York, and journalism professors from Harvard, discuss how they WANTED to be there, how they'd love to be doing their jobs, but why they just gave up and came home because of the danger and the restrictions imposed on them by the US military.

The verdict across the board? That embedded reporting + US military censors = "Stars & Stripes for Primetime", and how very, very sad it is that it's gotten to this.

As a concerned citizen and news junky, I felt satiated - but saddened. How was James and Mary show?

14. That's why this documentary needs to be re-aired. If every congressman
were forced somehow to watch this, I think they'd all be calling for a quick end to the war. This was the only show I ever saw on the Iraq war that showed what it's really like over there.
