For the first time, I'm getting a completely different picture of the world than that with which I was raised. I can't tell if it's because things have changed or because my point of view has changed.
US foreign policy is a disaster. We are a colonial power and use our military to oppress the poor in third world nations to essentially steal whatever we want.
US economic policy is a disaster. Maybe my tinfoil beanie is on a little tight today, but since reading about our fiat money supply it looks like the dollar could collapse completely if "faith" runs out. Why did we base our economic system on this house of cards?
US media has become a total lapdog of politicians, who in turn are lapdogs of the extremely wealthy. If it's good for the rich, it's good for the common people. What? The more we allow power and wealth to concentrate in the hands of the few the better it is for the people on the bottom? I feel like I'm living in a chapter of 1984 when I watch CNN.
War is a mess, and is usually foisted upon us by industrial interests. The people don't want war... they want jobs and families and a good life. How did we end up on a treadmill where we work and work and work, and don't take any time off to enjoy life and liberty?
Well, nobody's going to clean up this mess for me, I think. Actually, I'm wrong. Bev Harris is doing something, the powers that be at DU are doing something, Mike Ruppert is doing something... I need to do something too.
My pet topic is peak oil if my name hadn't made clear. This is the issue on which I'm beginning to get involved. Finally, I'm doing something.
It really feels like I'm waking up from a zombie march. It's time to get rolling on this thing and try to do something to improve our country for the ordinary people.
