The low self esteem of conservatives manifests itself in
contempt for liberals. Red (slave) states have higher rates of divorce, unwed teen pregnancy, incest and lower levels of income and IQ. Consevative values indeed! To feel better about themselves they lash out at tax & spend liberals, however, the slave states get more federal tax $ back then they give. To mask their sorry record of maintaining the sanctity of marriage they lash out at homosexuals. Their poor education? Elitist northeastern snobs. The republican hate machine has turned their ignorance into arrogance and misguided anger. They feel good about themselves when they do not have to confront their reality. And they march to the polls and vote against their best interests. What a sad existence.

3. You're right on the money with that one.
I couldn't agree with you more. The only positive vibe that I've been able to hold on to since the 2nd is, "these rightwing nutjobs are slashing their own throats."

Give 'em enough rope and enough time and the problem will remedy itself.

4. What the GOP
has been good at is glorifying ignorance. In a sense they have given ignorance an exalted place in our culture.

6. Projection
I was just talking about this very subject with my husband this morning, saying to him what you have stated here. It's amazing that they calls us snobs with no morals when it is quite clear the exact opposite is true with regard to the "Value Voters" who claim they vote based on their so called "morals". :eyes: They really need to take a look in the mirror.

8. Hatred of liberals = cover-up of conservatives' inferiority complex
Next time you hear:
* ...<Insert Democrat's name here> is a tax-and-spend liberal, it really means that "I don't care if <insert Republican's name here> is a corporate welfare freeloader. I don't want to know the truth, as long as everyone else is as miserable as me."

* ...The Democrats want to outlaw the Bible and require women to have partial-birth abortions and gays to be married, it really means that "I'm already divorced; my third spouse is cheating on me with a relative; my son got my niece pregnant; my teenage daughter had two abortions and is pregnant again--by a black man; and my mother is boinking my uncle. </hyperbole off> (If you don't believe me, just watch Jerry Springer. Most of the freaks on his show are Red Staters).

* ...<insert Democrat's name here> is an "elitist Northeastern snob", it really means, "I'm too lazy to get the education enough to read a freakin' comic book, much less the newspaper or even a regular book. I just hate educated people because I'm jealous of the years of hard work and sacrifice they put in so they could get a good education, so I want to drag everyone else down to my sorry-ass level."

9. For a long time I have felt that the support Bush receives from the
South is due to the erosion of the Souther White Male's position in the social hierarchy. As Technology has spread, it has required education to keep up with the needs of the marketplace, an area in which Southern White Males have fallen far behind because of their contempt for Sissy Book Reading Occupations. This has meant that women and minorities have gained ground on them economically and as a result socially. This has become intolerable to the image of the Southern White Male who has been used to thinking of himself as Master of All He Surveys.

12. And slavery is allowed by the bible, so
why aren't good christian conservatives howling for a constitutional amendment to bring it back today like the howl against homosexuality? Could it be they are hypocrites?

Could you be more specific in your time tables? I'd like to know when the south started to "exist?" Please educate me since I live in a red state.

15. Oh, thanks. So there was no South before there was a
confederacy? What was that part of the planet called? Who lived there? Did anyone live there before the confederacy? What were all those explorers doing in the 17th century "discovering" stuff in what is now Mississippi and Louisiana before the confederacy and what were the black people they brought with them doing? I really appreciate all this new information I'm getting. Do you teach NEOHISTORY?

because slaves weren't allowed in the south? More neohistory? Democrats were the racists in the south before they all morphed into republicans. Disposition of Southern Democrats? Keep on educating me buckeroo.

22. Slavery in the North vs the South prior to the Civil War
Slavery was far more predominant in the South.

http://www.africana.com/archive/articles/tt_269.asp

"Although Dutch traders brought 20 Africans to Jamestown, Virginia, as early as 1619, throughout most of the 17th century the number of Africans in the English mainland colonies grew very slowly. During those years colonists experimented with two other sources of unfree labor: Native American slaves and European indentured servants."

"Slaves performed numerous tasks, from clearing the forest to serving as guides, trappers, craftsmen, nurses, and house servants, but they were most essential as agricultural laborers and most numerous where landowners sought to grow staple crops for market. The most important of these crops consisted of tobacco in the upper South (Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina) and rice in the lower South (South Carolina and Georgia); farther south still, on Caribbean islands such as Barbados, Jamaica, and Saint-Domingue, sugar was an even more valuable slave-grown commodity. Slaves also worked on large wheat-producing estates in New York and on horse-breeding farms in Rhode Island, but climate and soil restricted the development of commercial agriculture in the Northern colonies, and slavery never became as economically central as in the South. Slaves in the North were typically held in small numbers, and most served as domestic servants; only in New York, with its Dutch legacy, did they form more than 10 percent of the population, and in the North as a whole less than 5 percent of the inhabitants were slaves."

Please. Check the dates for colonization of what is now the United States and check the 13 original colonies and what they consisted of.

same kind of people.

It always mystifies me that people who haven't got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of will vote against their own interests.

21. There is something to this
My sister in law just moved down South and her kids are a least a year ahead in school. Isn't there supposed to be some sort of federal education law about equal education? I know we pay more taxes than they do, but they do get more federal money then they pay. Shouldn't that go towards education? We keep on saying that the muslims don't educate their kids that's why the Taliban took over, well?
