Hi-Larious smack-down of Wilgoren/Okrent/NYT
from Atrios

Some Loner

Now this is funny. According to Danny Boy Okrent, Jodi Wilgoren was justified in calling Kerry a "social loner" because...

yes, wait for it...

she talked about Kerry "with scores of his friends and associates."

Just meditate on that one for awhile...

the NYT snip>
I suspect that when writers don't comment on specious statements, it's usually because they worry that any challenge might itself seem tendentious. And it's true that many readers do find conclusive statements objectionable. Reporter Jodi Wilgoren provoked a flood of complaints when she described John Kerry in April as "a social loner" without attributing her characterization to anyone - as if her own experience covering the senator, and discussing him with scores of his friends and associates, were not evidence enough.

1. I haven't bothered with the NYT fishwrap for awhile.
Especially since NYC is recycling again. Why bring shit in that you have to cart back out? Like Faux, CNN & MSGOP, I prefer not to deal with their shit. And here’s to a pox on all their advertisers if anybody is keeping track. I’m not watching or reading US mainstream media.

3. Daniel Okrent's job is to represent the readers, but instead
he's an apologist for the writers, and in one case he printed the full-name of someone who sent a private email to Adam Nagourney.

4. I paged through a really interesting new book criticizing NYT's foreign
reporting at the bookstore earlier today.

I can't find the title at Amazon.com. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know so I can find a link for you all.
