Anybody see the 2005 Mustang "Anthem" commercial?
From the Ford media Web site:
“Anthem” engages the viewer in a 60-second celebration of Mustang history and the American spirit. Set in Utah’s Monument Valley, the ad visually captures the freedom of America’s wide-open spaces. A red 2005 Mustang GT provides the centerpiece for the ad, “watching” brand-defining Mustang moments from the past, along with images introducing the all-new vehicle. Its signature V-8 exhaust note rumbles into a distinctive tribute: a unique automotive rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

I saw this right after I turned on the late NFL game on Faux. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. But believe it I did.

One of the most blatant meldings of patriotic and emotional "sex-family-home" symbolism for crass consumer hucksterism I've ever seen. I was truly disgusted at how low Ford Motor and it's ad agency will stoop to peddle over-priced, dinosaurian automobiles.

I truly hope the young sucker reactionaries who purchase this gas-hog because it is The American thing to do don't come whining to me when gasoline hits five dollars a gallon!

1. Also, I hate products that use Classic Rock songs to sell products! GRRR!
But taking the Star Spangled Banner to sell a Mustang is just horrible!!

2. Yea, whining about the Mustang
is the way for Dems to get votes.

Just what car do you think is "The American thing" to buy?

it almost brought a tear to my eye. NOT! Anything to make a buck, sell the soul of the country for the almighty dollar.

8. From an online car review
I'm not arguing your points but it's a pretty innocuous little vehicle compared to, say, an Expedition. Course I am not taling about a souped-up GT either.

Everything retro is very mod now.

Funny how society and culture works.

13. The retro Mustang will be a huge success and gets mpg better than any SUV
with a V6. Who's to say what a car should like. Porsche rear engine cars have looked the same forever. Maybe Ford should look to some of it's old designs, but then I drive a New Beetle, so I'm prejudiced in favor of retro cars.
