Something that concerns me about overturning Roe v. Wade

In addition to all the horrors that we know accompany illegal abortion. If the Republicans are successful in criminalizing abortion rights, we know a lot of moderates are going to jump over to our side. However, it has been mentioned repeatedly here and elsewhere that the abortion issue is a powerful bait that has been used for decades by the Right to motivate certain voters and that they have been holding them at bay so that they can continue to exploit it.

If it becomes illegal, then it's the same thing for the Democratics. I hate to think this, but it's possible that there are some on our side who would use the issue as a wedge in the same way. I really fear that reinstating reproductive freedom would be bogged down in politics for years and years. And if we think it's ugly now, just imagine how much worse it can get.
