The New AG
It seems as if Alberto Gonzaloz will be the new AG. Does anyone think Bush picked Gonzaloz as an attempt to keep Latinos in the Republican Party.

2. No, to consolidate the war criminal cabal in the administration

Can't risk having any loose-cannons in a position to start any investigations

3. Alberto Gonzales - the Cliff Notes now available...
Trying to spread the word -- for those interested, I've compiled the "highlights" of Gonzales' life and career at: Alberto Gonzales - The "Cliff Notes" Version.

5. Well, sounds like he's less rabid about fundie issues than Asshat
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 06:26 PM by belle
It also sounds like he's completely corrupt--no wonder Bush loves him. But the part where he sides with the majority on the 2000 abortion parental-notification case is sort of encouraging, I guess.

anyway, i bet the staff will be relieved at not having to douse themselves in Crisco and sing silly songs every morning...

6. Hey. George Bush is a MAN OF GAWD, so you can just stop with the
criticisms, m'kay.

seriously, this could actually be a good opening point when talking to some (not all, obviously) evangelicals about their boy. this guy signed a decision favoring abortion rights and is generally "anti-life" in general; people who loved Asshat might be dismayed at this crony replacement.

confirms me in my cynicism that for Dubya, the Christian blather, scary and shallow as it is, is and always has been less important to him than I ME MINE. the neocons and the fundies may be in bed, but they aren't identical.

9. Torture memo some evidence of that his appeal is in backing Bush power
The memo doesn't just say that torture is legal. It says its legal because Bush, as president during wartime, has inherent authority as commander in chief to do whatever he feels is necessary regardless of the laws passed by Congress.

And not tell Congress, either what he is doing or that he has this expansive view of his own power.

For Bush, who always felt that he should be an elected dictator, Gozanlez is perfect.

7. and tear up the Constitution
he told the Bushites it was ok to indefinately detain American citizens without right of counsel/speedy trial. Even the SCOTUS thought this was extreme, but Gonzales said that they were out of the loop on this one-that only the executive could decide these things. Dictatorship, anyone?

8. Here's what Chris Matthews has to say about him:
He would succeed John Ashcroft, who announced his resignation on Tuesday, along with Commerce Secretary Don Evans. On last night's "Hardball," Chris Matthews described the two men as personalities who couldn’t be any more different. “One is very tightly-wound guy,” says Chris of the former, and the latter “one of the most casual, nice fellows I’ve ever come across.”

Yeah, a nice guy who calls the Geneva Convention "quaint".

Guys, please attack this idiot Matthews for me. I'm too tired today.

10. "Hi, I'm Al, and I'll be your torturer today."
"If the pain gets to be too much, just scream out some names and we'll give you a spell before we start again, okay? Wonderful!"
