1. Good grief. A religious fanatic fiscal conservative.
Dinner must be fun at his house.

2. Gonzales is worse - more of a stealth attacker vs. the constitution.
If anyone is guilty of war crimes based on Abu Grhaib, it is this guy.

11. Our Fascist state is now complete with Gonzales
or is it a real Dictatorship or both with a little Stalinism thrown in. These are scary times.

5. Guess he didn't get the memo
If we bankrupt the government and scare people enough they'll let us buy bombs and forsake everthing else.

6. I hope the Dems put up one hell of a fight
to deny Mr. Quaint confirmation. They should bring it all up in the open hearings. Slap him upside the head with the Geneva Convention!

7. No. He got rid of him to deflect some of the criticism
aimed at his administration for being too extreme. And the way people here are celebrating, it looks like it worked.
Does anyone seriously think that Ashcroft and people that think like him are going anywhere?

8. Was it Malloy who said...
...he thinks that Ashcroft has pancreatic cancer? I thought I heard him say that last night. Not saying it's true, but just sayin'

15. Yes.
They live longer now that they used to. My father was diagnosed 30 years ago and was dead 14 days later. I had a friend who lived with it for 3 months. I would not think the treatment has greatly improved since then.

16. This explains the quick decision to do surgery for stones.
That almost never happens. Not even at a last resort. They must have known something bad was up.

It also makes sense about the timing. Knowing that Ashcroft was a goner, Bush demanded that he keep it to himself, lest he become a campaign issue and energize those who love the constitution and true freedom. Instead, they managed to defend nothing, and attack democrats without any interruption.

17. Sorry to hear about your dad
There's cancer on my maternal grandmother's side of the family and it seems to strike the men predominantly. No doubt treatment has improved, so has pain management, or so I've heard.

19. my granddad had that too
It was like 3 months after he was dianosed that he died. And Bill Hicks died of it, but he seemed to live fairly long after knowing about having it. Imagine if Bill Hicks had lived to see the last four years!

So who's replacing Evans? Jerry Falwell? How about Oral! HA! I said Oral, uh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh huh!!!!!!

18. pancreatic cancer has a 4% survival rate...
usually terminal within 6 months to 1 year of diagnosis....
i think he would have resigned sooner if that were the case...

Even though, he's a kool-aid drinker, I think he really believes in his religion and was probably too honest to be in that liar's club.

20. It depends how advanced the cancer was when it was discovered.
I knew someone who was diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer in the year 2000. Died 5 days later.

21. How can we be so sure his last stint in the hospital was
not some "warning" from the administration? We know only what they tell us about his health, and I don't trust the media or the government. As far as I am concerned, everything is a lie unless proven otherwise.
