Allawi's family kidnapped.
Just on CNN. Maybe they can elaborate between covering Scott Peterson and 90 second pop.

3. That's uncalled for.
Are there children? How old?

Maybe you (correctly) don't care for Allawi, but please care for innocent people.

12. Allawi is a pig at the trough of this enormous banquet of human suffering
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 12:28 PM by ProfessorPlum
I feel bad for his family members, if they are indeed innocent, but not for Allawi himself. You reap what you sow, and he is in bed with Bushco.

15. they sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind
it may seem callous to express the sentiment, as tragic as the possibility that innocent children may have been caught up in this unfortunate incident may be. However, it's difficult to muster any kind of sympathy for the merchants of death that have ultimately brought these types of repercussions upon themselves.

5. I have to agree. I don't care.
Allawai was involved in executions, he personally participated. He brought this on himself and his family. There is also a bounty on Allawai's head by the Islamic extremists.

9. What goes around comes around
Maybe "strongman" Allawi will suddenly start to understand the horror of people having their families threatened.

But probably not.

18. I can't believe the lack of compassion on this board.
It isn't right that the son should pay for the sins of the father. Period. I hold no ill will toward Bush's family--but Bush deserves to be in jail for the rest of his life. And while Allawi may deserve bad things; kidnapping his family doesn't serve the cause of justice.

But it does serve to show that Iraq isn't "free" or "safe".

20. Sorry, kimchi, but blood honor/justice is a way of life out there.
Whether it is good or bad is irrelevant. Bush has already lost Iraq. It will go the way of Iran. Bank on it.

23. it's could reapin what they sowed.
it's hard to care about the powerbrokers, when so many iraqis, americans and others have been murdered to put and keep allawi in power.

21. Too bad they didn't just take Allawi, why drag other people into it
but Allawi has brought this on them, and should offer to exchange himself for them.

He won't because in the end people like him are selfish.

...why did they kill another 100,000 of us? Why drag US into this?!"
