"The Million Grandma March" on Washington D.C......a dream...
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 05:29 AM by mopaul
a grandma age lady i know and i were talking about protests, and she said she'd like to get a few grannies together and make a trip to the white house to protest the war and the nazis. and i got this cartoon image in my head of a million plus grandmothers who are pissed off enough to make a big noise.

jesus, that's some scary shit when you think about it, a million anybody in d.c. protesting is scary, especially to the nazi overlords. a million pissed of grannies with signs and nothin' better to do than kick ass and take names.

get on the bus grannies and take the example of the million man march the black men of america had a couple years back. a million protesters makes quite an impression.

when you ain't got nothin', you ain't got nothin' to lose. do it for your grandchildren, who will be sent off to die in this insane racist crusade.

1. I'm a granny
Many of us would not be able to participate, perhaps every attendee would be willing to carry a picture and vital statistics of one of us. This way they would also be speaking/marching for us by proxy.

2. i'm a grandpa
maybe it should be a million grandparents. a lot of us would find it hard to attend, me included, but there are literally millions of grandparents with a little free time to make a point.

grandparents who couldn't pysically be there could participate in other ways too i'm sure. i'm just knocking ideas around in desperation.

3. I'm not a grannie yet but....
if my daughter & son-in-law get into gear, I will be. :)

I wish my mother were still alive. She fought for the last Catholic president with the initials JFK. When she passed away, I was left her thank you letter from the Senator. Looking at it today I am very proud to have been able to be her daughter.

4. Dont let the Repugs get to this thread...
seriously they would call us all younger people lazy and say that we were expecting the elderly to do our fighting for us.

And honestly I wouldnt want my grandmother to be out there marching or exerting herself too much.
