Who the HELL is Gerald Posner?? (on Olbermann)
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 08:42 PM by truthseeker1
He was on Olbermann, dismissing 911 "conspiracy theories" regarding questions about the WTC 7 bldg explosion and the plane that (didn't) hit the Pentagon.

calls James Walter "eccentric"

How do you explain the demolition of WTC 7 then, Gerald?? Hmmmmmmm???

He also dismissed theories about JFK and Princess Diana.

I don't trust this guy. Anyone know about him? Has anyone read his book "While America Slept?"

Review of Gerald Posner, Case Closed

David R. Wrone

This review appeared in the Journal of Southern History 6 (February 1995), pp. 186-188
This electronic version from http://www.assassinationscience.com/wrone.html

Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK. By Gerald Posner. (New York: Random House, 1993. Pp. xvi, 607. $25.00, ISBN 0-679-41825-3.)

Gerald Posner argues that the Warren Commission properly investigated the assassination of JFK. He claims to have refuted the critics, purports to show what actually occurred, and asserts simple factual answers to explain complex problems that have plagued the subject for years. In the process he condemns all who do not agree with the official conclusions as theories driven by conjectures. At the same time his book is so theory driven, so rife with speculation, and so frequently unable to conform his text with the factual content in his sources that it stands as one of the stellar instances of irresponsible publishing on the subject.

Massive numbers of factual errors suffuse the book, which make it a veritable minefield. Random samples are the following: Pontchartrain is a lake not a river. The wounded James Tague stood twenty feet east, not under the triple underpass. There were three Philip Geracis, not one; he confuses the second and the third. A tiny fragment, not a bullet, entered Connally's thigh. The Army did the testing that he refers to the FBI. None, not three, commissioners heard at least half the hearings. The Warren Commission did not have any investigators. Captain Donovan is John, not Charles, and a lieutenant. The critics of the official findings are not leftists but include conservatives such as Cardinal Cushing, William Loeb, and former commissioner, Richard Russell.

Posner often presents the opposite of what the evidence says. In the presentation of a corrupt picture of Oswald's background, for example, he states that, under the name of Osborne, Oswald picked up leaflets he distributed from the Jones Printing Company and that the "receptionist" identified him. She in fact said that Oswald did not pick up the leaflets as the source that Posner cites indicates.

8. Slick
His book contract connections have a whiff of CIA ties. Slickness and ...computerizartions! neat animations! Arguing to a one-sided purpose usually betrays itself by being too neat and complete, too loyal to the Warren Commission mess and its walking orders. makes a mess of his own, but its the tone and media- again- tongues hanging on ground- eating it all up to show they never blew the story, never listened to the UFO people.

Of course the competence of the media to present any science is pathetic and that information is safely and readily available to anyone with a mind who learned how to research term papers in journalist school.

5. Posner is a disinformation artist who tried to close the book on JFK.
He wrote the pathetically full of holes and ethically biased book "Case Closed" in which he concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing JFK and the Warren Commission was correct.

The media pissed all over themselves to have this obvious CIA-plant geek on their programs. For the last 10 years, whenever there was anything new in the Kennedy Assassination to cover in the news, the media hauled up Posner, who quickly shot everything down. Posner initially was a "Wall Street lawyer." Now he's an "investigative reporter". But for CBS, NBC, and ABC to so completely embrace him and make him the final authority tells me the guy's connected to the intelligence apparatus.

11. And not just on JFK. On MLK, too.
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 10:01 PM by Minstrel Boy
He's the corporate media's go-to guy whenever talk of "conspiracy" needs a dismissive tut-tut.

Would they ever give the same airtime to Peter Dale Scott, or John Newman, or William Pepper (who in 1999 won in court for the King family, establishing MLK's murder implicated federal authorities), or Michael Ruppert? Of course not. They would rather turn over the mic to the Agency's shill.

was running the anti-conspiracy theory guy to show Keith was not a conspiracy kook and try to establish some credibility for the voter fraud segment. JMHO.

He certainly did come across as the CIA's resident "conspiracy debunker" but I just wanted to check in with DU to make sure.

Thank you all for your input.

17. Master Debater
I went to high school in San Francisco with this dickwad.

He was the president of the debate society, the kind of guy that used to get pushed around in the hallway.

He had very few friends and deservedly so. He was a bootlicker then and he has parlayed that skill into quite the lucrative career.

Asskissing been berry berry good to him.

Damn, I missed the Posner segment. He is one of my favorites and a terrific debater, as someone else mentioned in this thread. I've seen Posner shred conspiracy clowns so often on TV they practically run from the camera in tears.

20. It's NOT a Conspiracy " Theory"....stop calling it that...
The questions that have been raised are based on very reasonable suspicions - and some really hard evidence. They should be answered, and not dismissed as some nutjob conspiracy theory.

If anyone here has not seen the FREE preview of In Plane Site.....do that now. I've seen it...and I've seen The Great Conspiracy, and I've read what Michael Ruppert has to say. There is so much out there to convince ANYONE who still thinks that the 9/11 story is for real as told to us by Bush and Company.....

Here's where you can see the preview and see some of what else is out there:
