Fuck the red states? Wait a minute.
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 07:57 PM by Flammable Materials
As Democrats and independent liberals, we are doing our damnest to remind the world that there's a shitload of Americans who didn't vote for Bush.

Similarly, there are a lot of people in the Red States (me included) who are doing our damndest to remind the rest of the country that there's a shit load of people down here who didn't vote for Bush, either.

If you expect the world to cut you some slack, be prepared to cut some slack for those in the "Red States" who are suffering along with the rest of the country. Even moreso, because we have to live and work with more Bush voters than you do. Believe me, it ain't easy.

The whole red/blue thing is such bullshit anyway, as bullshit as the black/white worldview of the Bush junta. Look at a gradiated map. It's a purple nation, baby.

:bounce: LONG LIVE THE 48 PERCENT INSURGENCY! :bounce:

2. I agree
I'm living in Oklahoma at the moment, and I know many Kerry/Edwards voters here (although I voted Maine absentee).

4. Speaking on behalf of blue Stater's, no, of course we did not mean
you, nor are "red" states the only place you will find the mindless brainwashed bushites. I think it is just a short hand for the cretinous masses who fell for the lies.

7. 100% agree!
I'm in rural kansas!!! Believe me it is hard to find hardly anyone outside my family who is a democrat and who is as outraged as I am. The county I live in had around 530 votes for Kerry and around 2100 for Bush. I get so tired of hearing people rejoice for Bush.
A friend of ours said on Sunday that he didn't like Kerry; he like his policies, but there was just something wrong with him as a man.
I was like WTF????? that was one of the most ignorant things I have heard this week....

10. Thank you!
the other day there was a thread mocking Arkansans, implying the very worst about them. When I objected, I got more of the same, so I quit posting on the thread. I couldn't help but think if such things had been said about minorities, the thread may well have been banned.

My point was that it is important to realize, as you so eloquently put it, it is a purple nation. It's just that we in the red states have to put up with more freepers. But don't for a moment think that every Arkansan is an in-bred cretin cheering Bush on. I have yet to meet one person who has told me they are happy with the outcome of the election. And this includes some Southern Baptists who didn't vote "like the preacher told to vote".

11. Lets be realistic
If we want a single damn thing done, we are going to have to stop beating ourselves up over this election. Move on. Although 51% of America voted in a way we didnt want them too, isnt that the part about America thats great? The people decide (or in this case, the poeple of Ohio).

12. Or maybe vote fraud was committed.
So maybe the people didn't decide and they didn't win. Stay tuned.

That's me and there's many more like me. We need all the help we can get. We blue people have to stick together reguardless of the state we live in. You all know the reds do.

I understand how the people in blue states feel about those in red states, and as a resident of Oklahoma, I feel the same way.

19. RESPECTFUL DISSENT FROM A RED STATER
I live in Mississippi, the bottom of the IQ chart. Fuck these red neck dumbasses. Make them suffer. They voted against their best interests - so be it. When the welfare and food stamps run out they can enlist and go to Iraq. That's what they voted for. They are bush's base. My family is living large because we rely on thought, not belief. Bottom line, red states have decided that this country will go through hell. I suggest the pain and suffering be concentrated in red states (where I live - bring it on). MAYBE THE BELIEVERS WILL THINK THE NEXT TIME THERE IS A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

and this is coming from a flaming liberal in Atlanta.

It does suck in Georgia, though. I would move if i didn't have to care for family here. So I have to work to make where I am the best it can be. And anything is an improvement in a red state.

23. Considering the things we're finding out
about this election, maybe some of you actually are blue staters and but nobody knows it!
Otherwise, I haven't been on the "Fuck the red states" bandwagon because I'm walking around in CALIFORNIA surrounded by Republicans! (Riverside County) I've just been thinking "Fuck those right-wingers."
I know there are tons of great people in the red states. My sister and husband, who were active with their local Dems, live in South Carolina and I have loads of friends in Florida, all Democrats and Greens. I can't even say "Fuck the country rednecks because I grew up in the country and my little hometown in Ohio is in the middle of a blue county.
It's a purple country.

24. Can we call you blue red-staters?
Blue because you voted for the good guys and blue because your fellow red-staters are so stupid.

You do deserve much sympathy and some praise for trying to co-exist with the idiots in your states.
