They Voted For The Rapture
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 06:02 PM by RBHam
Please stop even engaging reich wingers on the "values" issue.

The Fundamentalist base of George W Bush fully expects him to cast us all into a world wide conflagration that will bring about Armageddon and the Rapture.

It is an article of faith to these lunatics.

Any time this issue is raised tell them that you have no interest in engaging in discussion on "values" and "morality" with people who are fully behind a President who condones and even encourages war crimes, mass murder, torture and the suppression of human rights all over the world. This Born Again movement fully condones lying, cheating, stealing and murder as long as it's in the service of their God.

Remember - "They voted for the Rapture."

Again and again, make sure this fact sinks into the the public's brain.

A born again "Christian" who doesn't give a damn about his place in history because, "we'll all be dead anyway", has his finger on the button?

Is America insane?

Make that point - and make it simple and clear.

"They voted for the Rapture."

3. They're a "Doomsday Cult"
I said this in a thread yesterday. You're absolutely right, we have to start calling these crazy death-loving cultists out, and naming them for what they are...

4. It is also why fundies care so little about the environment.
They aren't going to be around. Ditto for endangered species, etc.

6. What they don't understand is that their rapture may very well be
a nuclear bomb!!!!

I'm a born-again who doesn't believe in a secret rapture theory.

I think they abosolutely think they'll be raptured and will escape any wrath or tribulation that might come. I think they believe Bush is chosen by God to carry out prophecy and they voted for him regardless of the issues.

OR

Another thing I can't understand is that if they think they are going to be raptured then why do they care if homosexuality is accepted or not or that Roe v. Wade is overturned?

AND

Don't they read in their bibles that even the elect (born-again/saved) will be deceived by someone promising peace and safety and performs great miracles in the Lord's name???

Then the leader is supposed to turn on them and they will suffer great tribulation. If this is biblical prophecy then I can't understand how they are falling for the lies? The bible also says there will be a great falling away from the faith and they will turn against each other--I think it will be when they realize there won't be any rapture.

Sorry for all the ranting/thoughts. I just can't believe they let some man think for them. Yes, They voted for the rapture, America IS insane, and it appears as if they endorse lying, cheating, stealing, and murdering. How sad. I'm glad I'm not blinded.

9. The pentecostals and other fundamentalists believe
that Jesus' return is coming and he will come secretly and everyone who is a believer will vanish in a twinkling of an eye and be "taken up" to be with the Lord. They think they will escape tribulation in the endtimes and the believe the endtimes is now. That's it in a nutshell. But nowhere in the bible does it talk about any secret rapture. The word rapture is not even in the bible. They just interpret scripture the way they want and take it out of context. Most just listen to the preacher and believe the church's interpretation of what they're reading.
