People think the 2nd coming of Jesus is near
Today is a big day for us geeks - Halo2 just came out. So i was browsing the teamxbox.com forums and low and behold in the political playground there is a sincere thread about the 2nd coming of christ. Not only on that website have i seen that but many others as well.

People are coming out and correlating the acts of Bush as the bible playing out the 2nd coming of christ.

What is up with these people???

3. THEY'VE BEEN DOING THIS SINCE THE 1960'S!!!!
I remember reading Hal Lindsey's books about the end of the world, which they had scheduled for sometime in the 1980's. They just keep predicting it, and it never happens, so they change their dates and interpretations. I have a feeling these fucking idiots are going to die waiting to get raptured!!!

They've been doing this since right after the death of Christ.
It got to be a real problem in the early church. People were waiting for the end. speaking in tongues and having ecstatic fits.
Hasn't changed much, has it.

16. 88 Reasons the Rapture Will Happen in 1988
That was the title of a book that came out in 1988.

When the Rapture didn't occur as the author predicted, he updated the book and published it as "89 Reasons the Rapture Will Happen in 1989." The following year he apparently gave up on further sequels.

The only way to stop the "Left Behind" madness is for the Rapture to actually occur or for all Xians to be removed via other means. No matter how badly their predictions fail, they just chalk it up to the "infinite wisdom" of God and set a later date. Sigh.

37. My grandmother waited for the end of the world one day in 1918
or something like that. The whole family gathered around and held hands all day and waited...and waited...and waited. Then they got up and ate cold biscuits and buttermilk and went to bed.

Her childhood memory made a lasting impression on me. I never ever believed that would ever happen again.

I love my grandmother very much and am grateful for her experience.

46. The Return of Christ
Well, the Bible is very clear that no man knows the day or the hour upon which Jesus will return. Our responsibility as human beings is to be sure that we will be ready when he comes. That means accepting him as our personal Lord and Savior, and confessing him with our tongues.

58. I always ask
People when they question me on being a atheist(not that i tell them, but they insist on knowing my faith) think for a minute if there was no heaven or hell, but you knew for sure that there was a god it was proven, and when you die there is nothing no punishment no reward just nothing death, but god wanted you to still love him and follow the teachings of the bible.

would you live your life restricted?would you spend your whole life going to church on Sunday knowing that you have only one life?,every time you lusted would you ask for forgiveness?
would you say people of other religions were wrong?would you give 10% of your income to church?

I ask this question to see why they are Christan, many people i ask this question of say no they would go on with there daily lives.

this tells me that many people (not all)are Christan because of the reward or the fear of hell or punishment, not because they love god or there fellow man.

I myself respect other faiths of all origins because in my personal belief I can understand that people need hope,Death is very traumatic and i can understand that the fear of it needs faith or hope to cope with.

I believe it performs a very useful function in our society but it gets out of control way to often.
