Red State Voters - They Voted for This Mess (WARNING - HARSH!)

"Reach out" to these voters? Yeah. Then pull back a bloody stump.

...

Bushco are not politicians. ... They are crooks, robber barons. They've pulled an inside job. They create failed states and terrorism so they can loot and pillage and not pay taxes and never be subject to regulations. They will kill our planet and they'll make us like it.

Let's face it, all right? Enough politeness.

Bushco doesn't want to fight stateless terrorism. They created it and they benefit from it. You think they don't know terrorists target blue state cities? They also know that Wyoming gets $38 a person in "Homeland Security" funds and NYC gets $5 per person.

...

They choose to be. You don't like me calling them stupid? You're afraid it might not "win them over?" First of all, I'm not trying to win them over. I'm trying to disassociate myself from evil. Secondly, you're wrong--it probably will win them over. Because they like it. They respect the boot in the face, rudeness, a show of force, a raised voice.

They're the ones who voted for an overprivileged fratboy deserter who makes speeches dressed in military garb; who demands loyalty oaths from all who would be in his presence; who descends from the sky in a military helicopter amid raving crowds and fireworks displays; and who ignores the real threat of stateless terrorism in favor of invading and occupying a country that was no threat to anyone.

They're the ones who voted for Abu Ghraib.

Check 'em out! They want you dead. Don't you think you should be aware? Browse their sites and comment boards and then come back and tell me you can reach them, educate them, live in peace with them.

Let's shut them off, the way we'd do with any drunken psycho breaking up the place.

Let's secede.

Cut off the red-state welfare, and they'll be part of the third world. They can run their Ayn Randian fantasies right into the ground.

Don't fight it--don't try to delay what they're voting for, give the people what they want. Cut to the chase, and let them reap what they sow.

And they will never be a threat to us. They have nothing -- no science, no wisdom, no art, no nothing. You think they're a threat to you? They don't even believe in evolution. Listen, I'd just love to see a faith-based nuclear weapon, OK?

We don't need them. They need us. Time to make them realize it.

1. Sometimes the truth is harsh
Is there some way for the Blue states to break away from the parasitic Red States?

2. I see...RED PEOPLE!
I live in a "red" state and I can't shake the paranoia that the RW Evangelicans want me to convert, like the Ottoman Turks, alive or dead. Their wildest fantasy - total ownership of the Federal Government - has come true.

I think secession may be the best way out. If they want to be the American Taliban, let them. Just please, get me out of here.

3. No you have to go 180 degrees in the opposite direction
I posted this in response to a thread about a factory in north Texas closing (jobs outsourced). Everyone wanted to beat up on them but the key is to do the totally unexpected. Kill them with kindness. What you and the media would expect is for us to strike out. Now, I am not talking about surrendering. I'm talking about undermining all this demonization of the left. If we ran this ad in this Texas newspaper and gave $5000 to the folks in this town it isn't going to strenghten Bush. It is going to undermine him and the Right's message of hate. Think of the publicity--in that area and potentially nationally (because it is SO unexpected--kind of man bites dog). Message is George Bush doesn't care about you but your fellow Americans (those despised liberals do).

You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Just ask yourself what strategy might (note "might") make some of these people see the error of their ways. And remember if we want to teach compassion we have to model. One poster suggested tying memes to scripture. In this case a newspaper ad might include "We are mindful of Jesus's admonition to do good to those who have harmed you. We believe your vote for Bush harmed us but we are genuinely sorry for your troubles and hardship."

"O'h dear, how terrible for you. We were afraid this woud happen to our fellow 'Muricans and that's why we couldn't bring ourselves to vote for Bush. We know how scared you are and how your families will suffer. You voted for Bush but even we on the other side don't want our fellow citizens to suffer from his policies. We really believed his re-election (note no sense getting their backs up over 2000--one battle at a time) would mean this kind of outsourcing. We are sorry for you and your town. We'd really like to help but now we have work so hard now to make sure it doesn't happen to more and more people in our country. Although it would be very small because we are just ordinary people with families and jobs like yours, we would like to help."

4. I agree with much of what he writes.
I'm sick of being afraid to speak my mind around these people and I'm sick of having my values belittled. I think Mortos's lengthy thread is an extension of that.

We tried winning them over with our kindness. We compromised until we barely had any principles left. We tried keeping our mouths shut and going with the flow, and then we tried explaining our positive vision which would benefit them most of all.

They decided that banning gay marriage and killing muslims was more important than having a free, secure, healthy and well-off society. They decided, out of spite, to re-assert their control by poking holes in the life raft.

We haven't been successful at getting through to these people, despite our best efforts to reach out.
