Will the Dems actually be an "Opposition" party for Bush's second term?
Bush has decided that his simple majority in the popular vote is a mandate for him to gut social security, civil litigation, abortion rights, environmental regulations, gay rights, and to shift the tax burden on to the working class.

If the Democrats don't grow a spine to oppose it, there won't be any point in voting in the next election.

There won't be anything left to protect.

Will Harry Reid actually challenge Bush, or will he just bend over and grab his ankles like Daschle did?

1. THEY BETTER!
The supreme court confirmation hearings are their chance to take over the debate on their terms on issues of civil rights, corporate responsibility and the environment.

3. Yes, events will make them so. They will do it out of opportunity.
I just read a piece about Reed, our new Senate Leader, and how each of his son's has a cushy job with a lobbying firm that represents major interests in his state. Does anyone really think someone who would do this would actually fight for Democratic principles?

Corporate America controls the media and we get manufactured news.
Corporate America now controls the voting machines and we get manufactured elections.
