I Haven't Watched A Minute of News Since Tuesday...Except Weather,
and I feel great!

No MTP, no Tweety, no network news, no cable crap - nada. Just the Weather Channel.

I know I should force myself (the RW wants us to check out of the process and give up completely), but I'm assuming the news is a 24/7 * lovefest right now. I don't need to see it. I'd rather gets my news through DU, even if we fall into the echo chamber routine on occasion.

5. Me neither--why BOTHER?
It's all just LIES LIES AND MORE LIES--plus a bunch of really dumb movies, sitcoms and "reality" TV (can't help but laugh at the absurdity of THAT one)

7. I have not watched either !
And I don't plan on watching . I am feel a bit cleaner since I stopped watching the news . But I still watch a little bit of CSpan . I have watched nothing but cartoons since I started my anti-US news agenda - which is going to last for the next 4 years . If I want news I have the BBC and German news websites to read what is going on . Damn the US Media . Thy name is whore .

10. Same here, I feel liberated.
I'm not going to watch anything again. I feel better not knowing what the broadcast media is lying about. The AP wire, and international news outlets on the internets are a much more reliable and interesting source anyway.

12. Same for me. I'm enforcing a full media blackout
...in the house. My wife has to watch the local Sinclair station in the far back room so she doesn't have to listen to me bitch about them.

I was getting to where I hated cable news anyway, so it's turning out to be pretty nice.

13. I'm right there with you. Only Keith Olbermann for me.
I'm in the same mode as I was after the 2000 election (same tune, different verse of the 2004 election): I can't stand to look at George W. Bush, I can't stand to hear his phoney-nasal-twang voice, & I don't want to turn on the news to hear about the Nixonian crook.

17. Not watching any TV except wife's few shows. No news.
I'm also calling up Comcast and dropping from "everything" cable to "basic" (but keeping broadband, of course) and telling them it's because of the Republican bias of their company. F'em.

Corporate America controls the media and we get manufactured news.
Corporate America now controls the voting machines and we get manufactured elections.

You are taking a great step toward a better life.

I stopped watching about 2 1/2 years ago -- I get all my news and weather on the Internet -- I try to find several sources.

And then there is Air America Radio. I only watch the really good DVDs.

I got so sick of the lies leading up to the 2002 election that I just stopped watching.

According to Bev Harris (black box voting.org) apparently the media you have turned off has been ordered NOT to report the vote fraud (see Bev's remarks below) -- so why should we wait our time listening to them and their advertisers??

I was tipped off by a person very high up in TV that the news has been locked down tight, and there will be no TV coverage of the real problems with voting on Nov. 2. Even the journalists are pretty horrified. My source said they've also been forbidden to talk about it even on their own time, and he was calling from somewhere else. He was trying to figure out how to get the real news out on vote fraud.

This is a person I've worked with off and on for nearly two years, and the voice was so somber it really bothered me.

"four more years" sign from the RNC. Beyond that I've been avoiding the TV news as well.

20. I caught a few minutes of Olberman on Thursday I think, nothing else
I can't believe I'm saying this...but life goes on! I used to read 2 newspapers and watch at least 3 hours of news a night. I hope I don't slide back into that trap.

I'm counting on this place to tell me what I need to know.

What would I do without DU?

21. Not me. I wanted to see what the buzz is...then it all went back to
Laci Petersen and Michael Jackson..that is when I turned it off.

I finally got rested and calmly watched all the networks so I could see what they were saying without me going balistic. It was very interesting/informative...lot's of useful data to use for our forward fight. I don't watch it 24/7 anymore though..so that's good.

I still watch C-span when something's on that relates to our political mess. Saw a creep on there this morning from some xtian group talking about bush "owes" them. They are calling in their markers now, hoo boy.. Still listen to radio too..boy has the tone changed on it as well! I want to know what my enemy is up to.

I did go outside the house today, finally. That was an interesting adventure also...still a bit of tension in the air.

I DO need to pay more attention to my family, though..no matter which way the political wind blows. I HAD HOPED that I could take walks and be at peace after a Kerry win *sigh*, but it ain't happening here. Unfortunately :(

Actually it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. My plan right now is to totally avoid television news for shrub's entire term. I can't be absolutely sure that I'll make it but that's the plan.

25. I haven't watched any news except...
briefly CBS evening news on Sunday. It was so brief that Rather was just saying goodnight when I turned it on.

Are you sure the Weather Channel is safe? Just kidding. I've been watching the Animal Planet mostly, 'cause I think animals are so much nicer than Republicans.

28. Not quite!
I have innoculated myself against the triumphalists and gloaters!!

I FORCED myself to watch 1/2 of The Capital Gang on Sunday Ñ thinking that if I could stand to watch the evil harpy Kate O'Bierne and the Douchebag of Liberty, I could stand anything.

And it's true. My head didn't explode, my heart didn't race, the tears didn't stream down my face. All that happened was that I saw stupidity personified.

I haven't watched it in 3 years. I'm more informed than ever. There are many other ways of getting information that isn't outright propaganda.
