Helen Thomas says Bush is afraid of her
"scariest little old lady in America, as far as W. is concerned"

http://www.startribune.com/stories/464/5071605.html

Now that President Bush has won reelection, maybe he'll feel secure enough to restore the First Lady of the Press to her front-row seat.

"No," predicted Helen Thomas on Friday when she keynoted the 9th Annual WomenVenture Conference at the Minneapolis Convention Center. "He's still afraid of me. He can't take my questions. Mine are very simple."

. . .

Bush believes he knows the moral high ground on many subjects. "Apparently it is more moral to start an illegal war, invade a country, occupy a country that did nothing to us; kill thousands of people ... all based on falsehoods trumped up by President Bush and his hawk advisers," she said. "He told one falsehood after another to get us in a Vietnam-style quagmire. We have lost our moral compass. We used to be mankind's greatest hope; now we are despised around the world. ...

"Don't get me started," said Thomas, who lightened up after she had her say about what the Supreme Court will look like if Bush gets to make three appointments, and about the press, which she said is doing a "less than credible job; not that it's easy to get information from this most secretive of administrations." On a hopeful note, she said, the White House press corps seems to be "coming out of its coma."

4. I love you, Helen Thomas!
She gives me hope that our country might survive. When I feel down, I remember Helen Thomas and my mother and her friends, who waited for four and one-half hours in the cold rain because they were not about to let those bastards take away their right to vote!

Helen is a real journalist who has may ask him a real unroved question. She still has enough respect that he can't disappear her without some questions.

7. My grandmother thought she was the best person in the press...
...she loved Cronkite, but really respected Thomas. She died 3 days before 9-11 at 92. She would have been sooooo fiesty in regards to Thomas's 'seat change'

Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 11:31 PM by JPace
in his press events....sad it won't be so. I wrote to her once
to support her when she was being treated so badly by AWOL. She
graciously wrote back to thank me. A lovely woman.

25. Remember this little exchange with Scott McClellan
about AWOL?

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/04/20040428-5.html

Q You never did answer my question on whether the President ever did community service when he was in the National Guard. I wonder --

MR. McCLELLAN: Helen, I'm not going to engage in political -- in responding to the latest political attack by Senator Kerry --

Q It's not political, it's a very simple question.

MR. McCLELLAN: And if you want to address -- this is relating to the most recent political attack by Senator Kerry. I'm happy for you to address that question to the campaign.

Q Can you answer that question, yes or no?

MR. McCLELLAN: The campaign responded to this yesterday. They addressed it.

Q Why don't you answer it?

MR. McCLELLAN: It's been addressed. I addressed it previously.

Q What did you say?

MR. McCLELLAN: And if you want to keep bringing up these questions, you're welcome to. But I'm not going to dignify them.

Q What did you say?

MR. McCLELLAN: Go ahead.

Q What's undignified about community service?

27. after helen thomas was banned to the back rows ... how many of her
colleagues (supposed fellow journalists) stood up for her? ... none that very many, i think.

helen says that the PRESSTITUTE (MY NAME FOR HER FELLOW JOURNALISTS)
is "coming out of its coma." I hope so. But it seems to be too little, too late! There still are too many shills hanging around bush's big time!

30. what should be done:
organize the press corps, so much as is possible, and have them all ask only one question: mr president, will you please stop this petty embargo against helen thomas?

fits the "one question only" rule.

32. Afraid of her with good reason
Boosh is also very disrespectful of Helen Thomas but that only reflects badly upon himself. If he had any integrity at all, or the mandate which he is so anxious to claim, he would welcome Helen's questions rather than repudiate them.

Helen is a giant and Bush a mental and ethical midget.
