Feeling crappy in Tuesday's wake? Two songs to listen to for empowerment
I just listened to Peter Paul and Mary's "Blowin' in the Wind" and Harold and the Bluenote's "Wake Up Everybody." Though these songs are decades old, they share an eerie, almost prophetic glance to the current situation in our nation. Those songs were written to get people to do something about their situations if they did not like the situation. Listen to them...they are relevant and empowering songs for November 2004.

3. Respect your elders, junior.
Green Day are a rehash of good punk. The subject is topical, the presentation is for shit.

8. I have stepped into the New Millenium...not liking it too much
I like Greenday, always have. More than 10 years later, I still get a lot of enjoyement out of Dookie. However, being a conissieur of all sorts of music, my mind is open to the wide range of expression that the world has to offer. I just happened to hear these two songs today, and found them to be incredibly relevant to how I feel, and how I feel a lot of others on DU feel. So, before you chastise me again, my freind, open your mind and realize that the year a song was written is irrelevant; its message is what matters.

2. A good one I like....
"Rise From the Ashes" by Rosanne Cash.

It literally gives me chills when I listen to it. It's on the album "The Wheel."

6. "I just want to celebrate" by Rare Earth is great too.

I put my faith in the people
But the people let me down
So I turned the other way
And I carry on, anyhow
That's why I'm telling you

I just want to celebrate, yeah, yeah
I just want to celebrate, yeah, yeah
Another day of living,
I just want to celebrate another day of life
