Kerry to Charlie Gibson (4/04): "Thanks for doing the work of the RNC"
I'm not sure what to make of this Newsweek article. It paints a picture of Kerry as the Elton John of the Democratic party: spoiled, moody, prone to fits of temper, and a man who wasn't all that interested in winning the presidency.

I won't post excerpts here because the article is guaranteed to piss people off. For those of you who want the "big picture," go here:

1. Well, I'm sure that's a caricature some here will find useful
But I think it isn't very accurate, and I don't think it adequately explains Kerry's actions during the campaign.

4. It's a very sad, empty article on Kerry...
...at one point he's driving by the White House at night with Vanessa, and it's lit up like a Christmas tree. She's in awe, thinking (as the article puts it) "that's the prize."

Kerry's not even taking notice.

She turns to him and says "Dad, will you appreciate this for just a MINUTE?"

I'm just trying to understand "why." This article is just one piece in the puzzle. In the end, John Kerry will be the only person who KNOWS "why"...but I do believe the basic premise, which is that he allowed Rove, Hughes and the Bush campaign to "define him."

9. Or The Hairbrush Incident
"Fuck, this is my Time magazine shoot! I'm not using Wade's brush." Or something to that effect. Newsweek can kiss my ass, I let my subscription run out and have not and will not renew it.

5. The "big picture" includes all of the truth and all of the lies...
...and this article may be 100% horse shit.

BUT...we really need to understand the playing field. There's a lesson in Kerry's candidacy we need to learn, and part of that is understanding HOW the lies were used by the Bush campaign.

7. This article really pisses me off, especially...
given that thanks to election fraud he probably actually won, but will never take office. This is a total hit piece!

12. That's why I didn't post excerpts...
...and anyone familiar with my posts knows I ALWAYS post excerpts.

It is absolutely a hit piece, but I thought that people should be aware of it...the media IMMEDIATELY rallying behind Bush to throw the last shovel of dirt on his opponent.

:grr:

whether to do likewise with Time....

The Guardian needs to produce a US edition print paper or subscription magazine, I think.... Or maybe the BBC. I'm rapidly losing ways to get any indepth news...I'm so sad that NPR has gone down the tubes.. I was so addicted to NPR for so many years, but the first moment I hear that sniveling witch Cokie Roberts, I start pulling my hair out and nearly scratch my own eyes out of their sockets.

14. The Saudi Royals have shares in Newsweek and are big advertisers.
Of course, both TIME and Newsweek will do the bidding of their masters, the Bushes and the Saudis.
