I have to go to the asst. principals office for re-education today
The asst. principal and the music teacher want to meet with me today because I sent an e-mail complaining about something the music teacher said. My son stayed home Wed. and Thurs. because he was extremely upset about the election. While WI went for Kerry our school district went to *. This is the e-mail:

I wanted to send you a separate e-mail to let you know that xxxx is especially nervous about coming back to your class. He told me that you made some inappropriate comments about Americans right to display a flag upside down. I have reassured him that he doesn’t need to worry about political comments coming from his teachers.

He also said that you were from Texas and I also reassured him that Texas has good people as well as bad. The mind of a kid is funny sometimes, he assumed that everyone from Texas was like Bush.

The Asst. principal flies a black hawk (don't know which branch of the military) and has been to Iraq. The music teacher is a bushbot. This meeting might be entertaining, I just wish I didn't have this blasted headache.

Notice that in the e-mail I didn't even bring up the freedom of speech issue about the Dixie Chicks, she told the kids that you shouldn't say anything against the US when you are visiting another country.

3. "...Texas has good people as well as bad."
For some reason that line strikes me as funny as hell. Good luck, give 'em hell and let us know how it turns out.

4. Take a friend with you....

...as a witness and for moral support.

Let them talk first...do not interupt. When they have finished speaking then blast them....do NOT let them interupt you.

Stay focused, strong and firm.

Let us know what happens....feel free to contact me...I have fought many, many battles in the school system.

Cheers,
Kim :toast:

11. yes, take a friend, or take a recording device
though you should let them know you're using it and get their OK to be taped on tape; or during and after the meeting take notes... keep impeccable records so that if push comes to shove, you have good strong documentation.

The "orcs" are starting already and we have to be very clever to keep them from running roughshod over the world...

10. At the very least, take a tape recorder.
Make it plain to all that you are recording every word. These scum are really just cockroaches who will run from the light of day every time.

The teacher said that she didn't say those things but that a student had and she claimed she said that it was a persons choice to hang a flag upside down if they wanted.

The asst. principal said several times that he served in the military so people had those rights - I just let that go because I didn't want to get into the not if you served in Iraq issue.

I think she was covering herself but the important thing is that they know where we stand and what we will and won't tolerate.

Thanks everyone for your input - I'm sure this helped set some boundries at the school.

16. Good job! Thank you for standing firm.
Though you couldn't pin them down, I doubt they'll be pulling this crap again.

I bet a strongly worded memo went out later that day.
