Do we need a separate forum for Boycott - SKINNER??
If people think it's a good idea. It seems like we have a lot of threads and are collecting information. BUt it's hard to keep track of the threads.

Just my $.02

21. I like it and I am already boycotting several places
But we DO need a central clearing house for boycotts!!

Good idea Glenda!

2. I agree with you Glenda
There are some really good threads on a boycott, but they are all over the place. I believe strongly that the boycott idea is so good that we should consolidate it in one place.

7. yes... my only fear is that our efforts will hurt other Dems/workers
This is the entire reason, I've not yet decided whether to cancel my Denver Post subscription--after their publisher overrode their editorial staff and insisted on a Bush* endorsement.

I keep thinking of the nice old man that comes around every morning at 4 am--and how thoughtful he always was if he came upon me walking my dog out in the pitch dark, not to frighten me... He looks to be way past retirement age, but has been doing this delivery route for years...

This is the kind of think I fear backfiring on our own....I have no options about not spending $$ at Christmas, but if I were in better shape, I'm not sure the people we hurt who will not get much needed part time jobs is the right way to go...

I'm all for exploring this, but I want to do so in a carefully thought out way.

My first move is to notify my cable company and GE, Viacom, Disney that I will not return to television until journalistic integrity returns to televesion media. To me, television news must be a first target!

9. What hurts us more in the long run?
by funneling our dollars into progressive owned businesses ONLY, we gradually "starve the Beast" that controls our government and harms every American worker. Our environment is on the verge of collapse, we've become the murderous bully of the planet-the only way to stop this trend is to cause a huge economic shift in this country.

Starve the Beast-vote with your wallets!

10. I also believe that repubs/fundies have been targeting companies..
for years. Writing them letters, boycotting etc. In the meantime, companies have gotten little to no pressure from us. So of course they are going to support customers who yell the loudest

Now it's our turn to yell, and bring the scales back in balance.

16. How about a "Boycotts and BBV" forum if boycotting
and living a lifestyle of "voluntary simplicity' isn't enough for one forum (though I think it would be).

17. How about Anti-Consumerism? Or Progressive Economy?
That can cover a lot of things: boycotts, supporting only progressive businesses and companies, bartering, trading skills and services among one another....

20. We need a support and boycott list
We need a boycott list w/Alternatives (the worst of the worst at first)

Then we need a support list (with the best of the best)
