It is really the last refuge for American Democracy.

I wish I could move there, but I have to stay in Ohio for now.

5. HELLO!
Despite certain propositions, Michigan is still a good place, and we could use some new Democrats way more than Illinois.

8. More specifically, move to Chicago
Downstate Illinois is Freeperville. Anything south of Bloomington/Normal is not much different than Kentucky.

10. Whoa whoa whoa whoa
I would hardly say it's "freeperville." And I've been to Kentucky... we are HARDLY Kentucky. I'll thank you not to call my hometown "freeperville."

Does it tend conservative? Yes. Is it beyond all hope? No. In fact, more liberals need to move to central/southern Illinois to counterbalance the conservatives! Why the hell does Chicago need MORE liberals? Move to the districts that need liberal support, and help make Illinois blue all over. Move to the 15th Congressional District, where ugly freeper Tim Johnson just won reelection over David Gill, a doctor who ran on the issue of health care for all. Move to Urbana- it's a nice liberal college town and very homey looking to boot. I would love to represent Illinois in Congress someday, and you'd bet I would run in downstate. I get condescending sneers from Chicago kids all the time at school because I'm from a rural town, and somehow I don't think the machine would take too kindly to a girl from the cornfields. So, come help me get elected in 15 years!
