How do we go about making changes in the DNC?
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 11:25 PM by LiberteToujours
I really don't know how the whole process works. We're talking about firing Terry and putting in a new chair (Dean?) but how exactly do we go about this? Does it take a massive revolt and campaign within the Democratic party?

3. The DLC has been infiltrated and corrupted by the Radical Right.
We hav to return to working FOR the People. FASCISM is the melding of Corporate interest with Government power at the expense of the People. We have to stop it or die.

4. Ok, DNC
Sorry, I've heard both and I didn't really know the difference. Is there a website that explains the organization of the Democratic party?

5. I don't think there is a website, but here's my take.
I've only been an active member of the Dem party since the last stolen election and this is what I've figured out. Each state has delegates to the DNC and I believe the state Chair and vice chair are also considered delegates but I'd have to check on that. These people are elected by party members in each state so the first step is to join. The next step, in my state anyway, is to be nominated as a delegate to the congressional district and state conventions. This is where the DNC delegates are elected to a four year term, I think. The candidates are usually party activists who, like candidates for public office, run around the convention halls speaking about their qualifications, goals for the position and such. You can speak with the candidates and vote for the candidates who you feel will act in your best interests.

Electing delegates to the DNC is only part of the job. Each state sets its own platform and resolutions. You can participate in submitting resolutions and debating them on the floor of the convention. You should be able to get a copy of the current platform and resolutions from your local or state county Dem party. You will probably be surprised to see how progressive the platform actually is compared to the candidates who are supposed to support it. This doesn't directly effect the DNC's role because they seem to want to do their own thing regardless of the desires of the states. But if enough states emphasize a strongly left platform, they might eventually get the idea they should be supporting it too.

You can also be active at the local level. This isn't DNC related but may be necessary to be nominated and selected as a delegate to the conventions. Who knows? After a few years, you might be able to build enough of a reputation in the party to be nominated as a delegate to the DNC where you can really kick ass.

When the DNC's website gets their shit back together, you might be able to find all this under an organization sublink. There are things you can do to change the mindset of the DNC borg. But it will take some patience and some persistence.

2. Forget the DLC we have to get rid of the Crooked EVoting Machines
Walden O'Dell, chief executive of Diebold gave Ohio to aWol. As long as our 'votes' are counted on these crooked machines we hav no chance on changing anything. aWol did not win.
