1. I'm still hoping that Powell might skip out as Secretary of State
Then write a tell-all.

Even though I hate the guy, he's become the scapegoat of this administration, and I think it would make soem really juicy reading.

4. What's so great about that...?
It only means that Condy moves to SoS, Rumsfeld to Security Advisor, and Wolfowicz to Sec. of Defense. Hard to spin that as an improvement.

It might have meant something had Powell stepped down before the election in protest. Now, it matters little except to make the administration even more extremist and bullying.

2. Generally happens.
Janet Reno was the first 8-year AG in quite some time.

5. If it is true...
...it is probably because Bush is going to name him to the Supreme Court to replace Rehnquist when the latter expires.

:-(

7. The real danger

Is that chimpy goes moderate, and does moderate things.

They look long range too, and realize that if chimpy does in a second term what he's done in the first, they have no shot at 2008.

I think we need to watch this.

8. Yeah, but they can't go very moderate
or they'll piss off their fundies. They have a real dilemma now. They can please some of the people some of the time.....
