7. I'm in Nebraska, too. We need to stand and fight.
One day these red-neck farmers will wake up and we need to be here when they do.

But getting the fuck outta here is pretty damn appealing.

14. I don't expect them to wake up.
I grew up in South Dakota and have been here in NE for the past 15 years. Nothing's changed - in fact, it's become more and more conservative. I think NE's a lost cause for a long time to come.

What astonishes me is how ignorant most people here are. When asked why they voted for Bush, they usually can't answer. The ones that do answer say something completely ludicrous.

One woman on the news said she was voting for Bush because, "he seems like a guy I could invite over for Sunday lunch, and then have a serious discussion."

Hmm, that seems like a great reason to vote for someone to be leader of the country.

It's bad enough that 51% of the country supports this idiot. Here, it's two-thirds!

I am contemplating relocating to a swing state or a light-blue state. Ohio is just across the border.

6. how red is your state?
And, how grounded are you there? If it is blood red like Utah or similar, maybe a move to a pink or light blue state is in order?

15. Kansas here.
Maybe we should start the Red State Democratic Coalition of the Democratic Underground. It is tough but we are needed to help convert the masses. I love my state and my home but it is difficult.

18. "I love my state and my home but it is difficult."
Yes, that's exactly how I feel. But, I'm starting to think that my vote isn't doing anybody any good here and maybe I should go somewhere where it is more needed.

16. Find the Democrats.
They are there. You can unite with them. Work for change. Small increments, grass roots.

From a Dallas Dem, where we just elected THREE Democratic judges and an openly gay Democratic Hispanic female Sheriff. There is great hope even in the reddest of red states.

Definition of a Texas Democrat:
Thick skin
Big mouth
Warm heart.

19. I feel sorry for you and others in your perdicament..
Im in MA and I just have no clue what it must be like.

Every where I went today people were openly expressing their depression. Not one happy face.

Even in blue states we are still ruled by the red states. And that just got even worse.

20. I know it sucks for you
i was born and rasied in Massachusetts, lived 6 miles north of Boston until i was 30 and then we moved to Texas, what a shock for me. 3 years later my husband gas a job interview in california, he calls me, says he's offered the job, do i want to move, i'm already packing honey! We've lived here in California for 4 years now and Texas is but a bad memory for me, no offense Texans but i was a liberal peg in a conservative hole and i clearly wasnt welcomed there.

24. What part of Texas were you in?
I believe that most major cities have their "liberal areas". I live in the middle of Houston (Montrose), and I could not find one Bush-Cheney sign in my neighborhood. On the other hand my neigborhood is full of Kerry-Edwards signs. Of course if go down Westheimer a mile and a half (River Oaks, where Bush Sr. lives) it will be all Bush-Cheney signs.

For you midwesterners, do the college towns such as Lawrence, Norman, and Stillwater swing left any? Good luck to all you liberals in conservative areas, it's hard to be different.

We are not red or blue States. They (Neo Cons and media)want us to think in these terms.

Work on the message.
