The NYT seems to be setting up Mrs Clinton or Mr Gore as needed "draftees" to alleviate what ehey see as the problem with "the strength of their field of candidates".

Though both have expressed their intent to the contrary, they both also have the political desire to lead. What more powerful lure can you use than the offered candidacy ?

I just thought that this was an interesting article coming out of the Times at this particulat point in time. Its either a slap in the face of the scrum of candidates or the start of the "groundswell of support" of a draft movement.

And then theres those letters Mrs Clinton posts on her website exorting her to run...

Anyway, thats what it looks like to me. Have at it.

1. probably trying the lessen the legitimacy.....
...of our current crop of candidates. Nothing like Hillary bait to rile up the wingers and make them feel confident. My two cents says that in time Hillary will be the Senate majority leader.

2. Hope that's all.
I'd vote for Hillary, but I doubt she'd win. She's got too much baggage from 10 years of Clinton bashing.

Can't think of one seriously bad thing about her, but 10 years of lies and trashing gives her two strikes already. Public perceptions and all.

If anyone could figure out a way, though, I think she'd do OK in the job. Except that some people down there make it personal.

Ah, Karma...

Some people in Washington have long memories, and her work at the Nixon impeachment wasn't forgotten when payback came with Clinton's. Should she ever get into the White House...
