Am I the only one that feels like I don't have any fight left in me?
I have walked around in a funk all day. I've been on the verge of tears several times today and I just don't know what to do about it. The thought of 4 more years of republican dictatorship seems to have zapped all of my strength. I have refused to watch any news today because I can't stand gloating, and having to look at President Bush's face and listen to his mangling of the English language makes me want to puke. The only way I knew Kerry conceded was because I happened to be walking past a tv when he was giving his speech. As a gay man I feel like America has turned its back on me and basically said, "Get your ass back in the closet and keep your damned mouth shut!" I can't wait to see what kind of screwed up laws Ashcroft, Pat Robertson, and Jerry Falwell will come up with to make my life even more miserable. If there is a God, may S/He have mercy on us.

2. we all feel that way, but guess what...
after we grieve, we will all find we have much more fight than we ever thought. Hang in there, help is on the way, although it may not be coming right now when we thought it would.

3. I have had the same terror and fear all day.
I am not gay, but I thought about this before and feel now that I know how people must have felt in Germany in 1933.

14. Two things to think about
One, now that Georgie has shown Daddy and Mommy that he's a bigger, better man than Daddy, maybe Georgie will lose all interest in playing the game anymore and the second term will be largely an incoherent mess.

Second, now that they don't have us to serve as their surrogates, the real traditional conservatives--the ones who fought for decades for fiscal responsibility, limited government, non-interventionist foriegn policies and neglect of Israel--are going to have to step up to bat in Congress and the states and take on the neocons and their amiable dunce of a puppet.

If either or both of those things develop this nation may be able to avoid the social and political collapse it so richly deserves at this moment.

5. I Feel Utterly Betrayed
After the 2000 election I was totally incensed that Bush was allowed to steal that election.
I’ve fought so many battles in the past few years, Heart and Soul, I left nothing.

And now this, Kerry Concedes, Yet the vote counting was never completed, He promised, The Democrats Promised.

How can a Nation ask its people to die for democracy, When our representatives will not even take the heat while everyone's vote has been counted, Some waited in line for hours on end, We all hoped, Were all willing to wait.

Why ?

I’m out of words, Out of Hope for my country, I am expended.

Kerry's concession came on time and as a result of hard cold mathematics. The choice was between a scorched earth war which would have put the demos in a very bad light, and to no avail, or the action he chose.

Thirteen million new voters over 2000, 5 million for Kerry and 8 million for Bush......time to rethink strategies and plan for 2006.

A far wiser man than I once said that the greatest victories are the ones in which you lose, you lose, you lose, you lose, and then you win. Ive been active for 40 years or so and am used to setbacks, I know its tougher for those new to the fray. But the goal is worth the heartbreak, worth the setbacks and most of you know and will only renew efforts to make this country better.

Just think of the coming (in two years) efforts to gain a majority on the legislatures and save Social Security, Medicare, a womans right to choose, the rights of gays to enjoy protections granted others and our children's lives on foreign soil.

6. I feel the same way. And I think I may begin voting republican.
Just out of concern for the whole world. Any country that would ELECT this man after seeing what four years of him have brought does not deserve to be a superpower. I am thinking about voting republican and letting them ruin this country.

Yes, you may say 'Don't you love America? You can't let them destroy our homeland!'

Well, no. I don't love America anymore. I have no joy in calling myself an American. So I will give these repubs free reign to decimate this nation. Then, maybe, the rest of the world can learn how fucked up conservative policies really are.

17. Let Freedom Reign!
I am with you on this... I am really no USA fan anymore either.

It's just the socio-economic policies of * will not allow me to leave and make a smooth transition into another country. I just have no money!

If I had a way, and some $ to get me by for a while, I'd seriously be gone tonite. AND I'd post a pic to Du showing I wasn't shittin'!

So to answer the question... there's no fight left in me. I've had four fucking years of hate, anxiety, and basically "just getting by" with the * middle class economic policies and I've had enough. Four more years of worrying about this shit is going to kill me.

... and I'm not just venting. ... and no, I will not feel better tomorrow, next week, or in a few months.

The party has let me and all of you down and you are nuts if you think in fours years we will turn this country around.

9. What else can you feel?
We had the crap kicked out of us...It wasn't really close and then add in the historic gains in Congress.

The increase in voter turnout seems to have helped Bush not Kerry. Is it possible all that early voting was by people who didn't want a President Kerry, especially in Florida which also turned out to be no contest.

We like to imagine conspiracy and maybe there was one but the Democratic Party got beat up.

But I AM ready for a fight. We must hit the media/news outlets hard. Make it impossible to report from anywhere but their studios/command centers. The media is the enemy. If you ever see a live media event on the streets with reporters, yell at them things like "LIARS""Fascists!" disrupt them, engage the reporters while they are making the report. Do not allow them to just roam freely over our STILL great land. If enough people do this and often enough we can make a dent. Time to culture jam.

18. There is work to do in the 06 midterms....
...consider putting your energies into a House or Senate race in 06. There's money to be raised, organizing to do...plenty to keep us busy. As soon as we know who will follow McAuliffe, we'll be able to get a clear idea as to the tack the party will use to take back Congress.

...and then see what I can do to influence a turnaround in the House and Senate for 06. Two years of unchained weecowboy will put us close to the edge of doom, but that might just be what some of these idiots need to give them a wake up slap across the face.

I felt the same way all day, and just now a cloud lifted. I switched off the news and put on the Golden Girls. I read the posts from other DUers. I realized Bush didn't win by 50 million votes. I still feel like hell but I know at least I'm not alone. And neither are you.

I can't even put my pain into words. I don't know what it's like to be in your shoes and I won't even try to pretend to. But it sickens me to think people would throw away America just to stuff you back in that closet. And that's about what it came down to. I believed we had a different America, I was a fool.
