Do we really think that Muslims are that dumb?
After blowing up the mosque they would sit down and type an e-mail?

I'm sorry folks but this story gets more and more ridiculous. Sounds more and more like the CIA, M15, or Mossad...only they could think that we would believe this.

1. No, it doesn't make sense
If they are al Qaeda, they'd be bombing the US people, not a holy shrine. They want supporters and the bombing just lost them quite a few, I am sure. More likely the bombers were from another group.

That being said, let me also assure you that there are many, many more Moslems who do not support terrorism in any form, who see al Qaeda as the enemy of Islam, and who want peace and justice in the Middle East.

3. Agree and add
This is (as another poster said) the start of the Iraqi Civil war.

If you believe the administrations BS, then all these attacks are generated by "dead-enders" from the Saddam Regime, or the feared boogeyman, Al Queda. This is symblomatic of their simple-minded view of Iraq and the world in general. In truth, there are many splinter groups vieing for power in the vacuum left by Saddam and they will stop at nothing to bring themselves to power.

The bad part is that no matter how much they dislike each other, they almost ALL hate the US occupation.

Dubya and his crew don't have a clue!

4. Maybe Chalabi
because the Ayatollah was his equal on the council but had a groundswell of popular support.

No, why would the perps send an email saying mission accomplished, like their bosses don't watch the news???

8. it was suggested earlier
in a LBN thread, perhaps the Saudi/Kuwaiti royals got a bit nervous about the "Islamic revolution" talk, certainly those hypocrites don't want any of that going on in the area. That's part of what killed the '91 uprising, with Bush bowing to his satraps and letting it be crushed after promising help, the Saudis also helped the CIA in an attempt to kill Lebanon's Fadlallah (a Lebanese Shia figure sort of comperable to Hakim's stature) in the mid-80s.

it was a good suggestion, first I've heard that would make sense.

5. the story is mainly in US press, they can't be blamed for thinking

the US voting class is dumb.

They have quite compelling evidence of that, it seems.

9. not really, at least at the moment

his group was working with the occupation forces, at least tacitly.

if he was the major threat the Badr Corps would've been resisting the occupation from day one and not sitting on the side. I doubt the martyred Hakim's organization will sit aside and let themselves be used in CPA's facade anymore, for it has gotten them nothing as yet.

10. The specious argument that Hakim ...
... was targeted because he "cooperated" with the occupation forces by stepping forward to participate in Iraqi governance is nonsense, IMHO. It smells of prepared disinformation. It'd be the equivalent of saying that anyone who hastened the end of the occupation by participating in Iraqi self-governance would be "cooperating". That's just patently absurd. To the degree it "sells," it can only prolong the occupation. Who benefits from that? It seems to me these questions almost answer themselves. Think of Chalabi as Vichy and Hakim as DeGaulle. What factions in Iraq are in the pocket of the corportists? Hakim? Nonsense. The Islamic populist movements are very clear about the "enemy" -- the World Trade Center and Pentagon don't represent the entertainment industry or democracy. They represent the plutocracy and it's global goon squad. I doubt there's a much less politically aware population than the US. Global politics is far better understood in Europe and the Middle east than anywhere else, especially the US.

11. Yes. They still have not figured out
how to carry out an attack without blowing themselves up.
