Neither Gore nor Kerry understand our deep, bitter feelings
I never see a true acknowledgment of what we feel. The losing candidates talk with smiles about healing and unity and going along to get along, but they NEVER show that they truly understand the sacrifices people have made for them.

At the end, at the loss, they seem to value their own future electibility and their position in the establishment more than they value the bitter feelings of the millions who gave their all.

They're on to better things, and have great health insurance. Some of us have impoverished ourselves and ruined our health, lost family members and work.

This is why some Democrats give up and leave.

1. I think Gore knew.
Certainly by 2002 he knew. I don't know about Kerry.

You said it so well. I don't really think they realize how much we've had to sacrifice to adapt in a world that will not get better. How can we heal?

12. Until there is HOPE, Promise, and a better Comprehension of BAD self
interest voting..there will be NO healing.

We, the underclass, need to wake up with a strategic Plan to rally the rest of the troops. There is no current Plan and most likely the reason for the results we living with. The DNC Boys did their best but obviously...no cigars....

11. Gore knew?
He didn't even thank his people. He didn't even pay some of them. Why do you think Donna Brazile doesn't like him? And then he hid for two years. And he wouldn't accept the nomination when he had the moral high ground. Fuck Gore. And I don't know about Kerry .This is too weird. We may have been set up. I respect Edwards though. He at least showed anger!

6. If Gore didn't know then, he knows now
It's still to soon for me to make up my mind about Kerry--I'm not removed far enough away from what happened yet

7. In the end, we don't matter to them
They don't see us a people, just votes to further their own political careers. I'm not getting this emotionally involved again. :-(

8. They don't even "get" standing in line all night to vote
only to be told, "fuggetaboutit"

They sure as heck don't "get" the terror of knowing the cuts are coming.

They'll go to their parties with their republican cronies, and "go along to get along", and life will be just fine.

The only thing sadder is your last sentence........ how many leave. Because we were so focused on "them" that we didn't do such a great job of forging the bonds among us that are so desperately needed.

Our loss.
