Last night at a local pub, a young marine started yelling out to the
patrons, "you dumb asses, don't vote for Bush!!"

He was headed back to Iraq. Said he and his fellow platoon members wanted Kerry elected. He got to come home on furlough so he was able to vote kerry but many of his co-platoon members were still over there and could not vote but wanted Kerry. He came from here but ended up in Missouri a few years after high school, out of a job, couldn't find a job, ran out of unemployment and finally gave up and went into the military because there was "a recruiter on every corner."

You should have heard him yelling and cursing America last night. And he is a young person. 24. He showed up at the polls and now he has to go back to Iraq for Bush and who knows what will happen .....the clenched voice of the choked.

2. My heart breaks for him :(
Every time I think of all of those young men and women over in Iraq fighting in this stupid war, I just cry. :( Now there seems like there is no hope whatsoever.

3. No absentee ballots for the troops?
Has this issue been looked at? When I was in, they lined us all up, registered us and gave us the paperwork to get the abs. ballot. Perhaps, assuming we'd vote repub, which I didn't.

4. The military could vote. If they didn't, that was their vote.
I feel sorry for the few who voted for Kerry. But the truth is, the military was overwhelmingly in favor of Bush. Those who voted for him, or failed to vote for Kerry, in all truth deserve what they get. Four more years of the same.

5. For what it's worth
My cousin who just returned from Iraq a few weeks ago indicated that many of the actual troops on the ground were very anti-Bush, but were afraid to cast a vote against him for fear of repercussions.
