1. Absolutely.
They think with the stronger pug showing in the house and senate they have a better chance.

3. Public displays of affection between gays will be outlawed.
we'll be sent to jail for holding hands with our loved ones.

they have absolute power.. they can do it if they want to.

5. And they want to
* Gays will no longer be able to teach in public schools
* Same-sex couples will be denied joint mortgages
* Same-sex couples will find themselves unable to visit their lover in the hospital or to make medical decisions concerning their treatment
* Same-sex couples will not be able to stay together in nursing homes
* Hate crimes against gays will rise in number and without fear of prosecution
* Gays will be fired without cause
* Gays will be evicted without cause

And when they're finished stomping us into the dirt, they'll start going after atheists.

6. I doubt it.
We know that a case won't successfully be tried at the Supreme Court.

We know that an amendment won't pass the Senate OR the House.. and that's because plenty of "moderate" Repubs won't even vote for it.

And we can point to all of these DOMAs passed and say that it isn't necessary.

In a way, the Right has shot its wad on DOMA referenda. We won't see another one in Ohio or Oregon. They're already in-place.

8. Never.....
....say never.

Now that Congress is firmly in the hands of the fundies, they have the power and they know it. The Democrats lost seats in both houses, and this Constitutional Amendment can and probably will come up again.
If it dies again, the fundies will know which members of Congress to target for removal in 2006.

Bush and the Repukes have to give the fundies something, because it's always a good thing to keep a rabid animal fed, so it won't rip your throat out.

This way they get what they need for the 2006 Congressional elections,
and then they will throw another table scrap, to get their support for 2008.
