Please help cheer me up
I was so down in the dumps today. I thought I'd just come on over here and wallow in self-pity with others who felt like me. But I was locked out. Alas, I never brought my login info to work. I make it a habit just to take a quick read and not post from the place that pays me, but today I couldn't even look. :-(

I so love watching my political shows, I just can't now. I'm probably going to retreat to the world of Oprah & Wheel of Fortune for a while. I guess I need to live in the world of absurdity for a while.

I'm 55, happily married and we've raised two fine young men. There's probably not a lot in my life that's going to change with this totally Republican administration. I fear for my children. All the progress we've made over the years, it's about to be erased.

I'm in despair here and I think I need a good cry. I've got hate in my heart right now, and that's just not me. Can someone offer me a little shred of hope today? Just seeing someone with the same feelings would help me out a lot.

2. A guy walks into a bar...
...no sorry don't have a joke.

It's a down day, but I told my wife I'd rather be right than in the majority. This will be a great refuge for us. We've got to keep the pressure on the politicans and educate much of the public. What is obvious to us isn't to them apparently.

Hang in there.

3. Thanks for trying
I can't find much to laugh about either. I was ready to retire this summer. Now I fear I'll be working till I'm 80. My husband works for an Environmental Firm. LET THE LAYOFFS BEGIN !!!!! Not much to clean up when all the regs will soon be out the window. We'll have to purchase our own health insurance too. Mine is currently fully paid, the premium is $7,500 annually. Lordy, it will probably be up to $12,000 by the time I'm out of there. At least neither of us work overtime, we didn't have to lose it.

Thanks for listening to my useless ramblings.

4. We've started a movement ...
... If you've been on DU, you've seen posts from progressives in small right-wing towns, highly religious communities, even the worst parts of Texas. We're highly organized, we're connected, it's just going to take a little more effort and a little more thinking to regroup and come back. Remember, the Republicans must have felt like we did when Clinton got reelected, and imagine how they felt when Roosevelt got reelected again and again. The political situation isn't static, unless we do nothing. We won 48% of the vote. That means we have a lot of power. We just have to figure out the best way to mobilize. It will take time, but not that long.

5. I'll try
read this note I just got... I think it applies to all DUers. We should all be proud:

dear grace--

i just wanted to send you a little note to say that even though the results of the election are sad and disturbing, you have been a wonderful example for all of us here at ______ with your involvement and awareness this race.

you have been very inspiring to me, and i hope to get more involved politically from now on.... it seems that voting isn't enough anymore, we all have to be more outspoken with our beliefs are spread the word as best we can.

thank you for being a political source for us all!!! thanks for the lunchtime debates and pointing out political sources and putting your heart and ours into this race...
you might not feel like it today, but you've made a difference. :)

thank you!!
