Clarkies and EX-Clarkies Check In....
Are we going to take this shit???

Now is not the time to join the Democratic Firing Squad that is sure to begin...

The Party raised more money and gathered more support than anytime in my life.

As of about 30 minutes ago we are leaderless now...

I for one, would be proud to fall in behind the General in order to take this country back...

Who wants to come along???

57. He was my guy from the first time I heard him speak
Even though I threw in 100% behind Kerry later (canvassing, worked the polls, etc.).

I'd support him again - it's not like Dean, where I loved the guy, but didn't think he'd inspire folks of all stripes across the country.

My only concern was the Right's attempt to "swift-boat" him in that article in the New Yorker. It was lies and distortions, but we all know how carefull the electorate analyzes all that.

135. I'd like to suggest we collectively do a road trip to Little Rock in June
Is that something we all can plan? Is it possible that a pilgrimmage to Clark's home en masse could convince him to saddle back up? If not in another run for president, at least to give props to the man for all his continuing hard work trying to save this country from insanity.

Who's game?

I am going after *, the Right Wing Rural South, Fundies, and the Media!!!

I want Wesley Clark in 2008.

Maybe we could give him Mark Warner or Russ Feingold as VP!

Arkansas was pretty close this time around; with more effort, we can pull it over to us. Then add Gore states and New Hampshire. 270.

But I also don't see any sense or reason to think he'd necessarily have fared much better this time around. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't - we'll never know and it only hurts our friends and colleagues who really believed in Kerry and Edwards to suggest otherwise. shrub and his machine are scum and half of the Amerikan people are idiots.

But yes, bring on the General in 2008!

33. As far a Kerry goes....and this is from a Retired Military Member..
It wasn't Kerry that turned his back on his brothers it was a certain group of Neo-Con Ex-Military fanatics that turned their backs on all of us.

It will be those traitors that we will rise above in 2008. They stuck a knife in Kerry's back really good. But, this will not be the end of their story...

As the names of soldiers continue to come streaming in from Iraq, as Veterans continue to lose their benefits, we will ensure that the names of the Swift Boat Veterans for Lies will be posted in every VFW and American Legion lodge in this country.

We have to fall in behind the General, because he is the only one that can tell the bastards to their faces what traitors THEY ARE.

28. The most important thing is try and push Clark between now and 2008
to embrace voter security initiatives. To get a dialogue going in this country where people are not afraid to examine the possibility that both 2002 and 2004 could have been stolen and that there is evidence that can't be ignored until it's irrelevant to even look at it anymore. Because that's what's going to happen if we put these concerns out of our head the same way I know I did after 2002. I think Clark is the best candidate of any who ran this year or any who didn't who some people thought should have (including Gore, Hillary Clinton, who I have absolutely no like for etc)

but we need to get him to get on this thing now and in a major way. No more lip service to this issue. I want to make it as big a thing well before the 2002 election as environmental issues or the anti-war movement or almost anything.

110. Cheers for Your Thoughts

That is why we need to get activated.
We need to put the War To Stop The Vote Count!

We a;so should be a training ground to learn how to find our own areas of interest for leadership in the future.

I believe that should be an important thrust for the General.

He needs to help train his officers to make political foot prints for the next generation,

As a clarkie I met so many talented, creative political junkies.
I miss the discussions that we had and the "like minds."
In other words there are football fans and there are Politics Fans.
We are addicted to politics and making a difference.

29. I am with the General, no question
But, frankly, this isn't the day for me to commit to any action regarding the Democratic Party, for which I have been a loyal soldier for 35 years. They were supposed to be ready this time. They were supposed to fight this time. Today I'd happily shoot every last one of them, beginning with John Kerry and John Edwards. So there you have it, since you asked.

Yet ... for General Clark, anything I can do. If he wants Clark08, I'm there.

Some say the first Democrat. He won because he had a base formed of the common man. It would actually be quite fitting if another General were the one to help re-energize the party.

I have to do a better job at supporting this forum as well...maybe if all of us can come out of pockets about ten bucks a month, Skinner and these guys at DU will let us organize like we've done in the past here among fellow democrats and other progressives.

DU Can Be Our Vehicle....submit your ideas and support!!!

We've got to the youth vote more involved as well....it's their futures at stake here. A draft would be devastating to-wards a whole generation of young Americans.

Why they didn't turn out in force, has me in shock right now.

48. What We Need
Is a Draft Clark '08 site, or something akin to it if we decide not to. We need a place to talk about our efforts to draft him, if we really decide to try.

I will state right now that I will do everything I can to support the general. But I don't know a thing about webprogramming at all.

We also must make sure we stay focussed on 2006, with the senators running.

And the Reps.

76. Awesome
Also:

I don't think we should be all about Clark '08, though that should be the main focus.

I envision a grassroots movement to revitalize the Democratic Party and establish stronger leadership throughout it. We need to stand by the General's slogan: "A higher standard of leadership." We need to ensure that our leaders are held accountable for their actions, that they are looking for the true best interest of the American people, both now and in the future. We need to take a stand and say "good enough" is NOT good enough, not when the future of this country is at stake.

We have senators to elect in '06. Until then, Clark '08 should be the secondary focus. Though, I will work very hard to convince him to run.

I can't believe we have to go over this same crap again. He was a paid speaker at one single small Republican fundraiser at a time when both paries were courting him. Afterwards, he did the same thing for a Democratic fundraiser.

Since he dropped out of the presidential race, he has raised boatloads of money for the Democratic party and individual Democratic candidates.

So yes, do let him run in the party he's raised the most money for, which would be the Democratic party.

General Clark as Vp on the ticket could have made a hell of a difference.

I truly grew to admire Kerry for his intelligence, passion and even for his seriousness. John Edwards on the other hand seemed rather lackluster. Maybe I am just feeling bitchy because I am feeling a gut wrenching sadness this evening.

If he really doesn't want to do it again, of course I would respect that, but part of making that decision is knowing how much interest there is in him, and knowing how much support he could count on.

As for "New People", how much of a disposable culture have we become? Clark wasn't even a politician and barely on the national stage prior to the draft movement, how "new" does someone have to be? Many Americans were pleasantly surprised to hear Clark on TV as a Kerry surrogate. Few knew much about him. Clark is not "stale".

He may want to work in the private sector, but there is no way he would ignore a large movement to draft him again. He cares about the voice of the American people.

And, y'know, there's the whole Andrew Jackson parallels.

I'm not a re-draft Clark, Clarkie. Sorry.

First, one man isn't going to save us from the four years of hell coming down on us, four years from now. And our "Party" is fucked. He chose one hell of a time to join.

Second, I don't know if he wants this and wouldn't blame him if he didn't.

Third, we haven't even heard from him yet.

He was the best, Wes. But from everything I've heard from him, he really is concerned with finally making some money and enjoying his life in the private sector. If he choses to do anything beyond his WesPAC thing, he has my support, of course.

A numb and depressed Clarkie

130. A message from Wes.
This was just posted to the Clark blog. It doesn't really concern what we're talking about here, but I thought it might be of interest anyway. It definitely sounds like he at least wants to stay engaged in politics at some level.

To all those who worked so hard and cared so much,

Thanks for all you've done. You gave me a voice and you amplified it far beyond anything I could have expected. I am so grateful for all your support, contributions, letters, visits, emails, and continuing commitment. And for all your determination to help our country into the future.

I think we did make a difference, and I think the country and the party are better for all we did together.

But we didn't win.

Today is a sad occasion for all who believe in our vision of America. Like so many of you, I worked hard for John Kerry. Over the last few days, like so many, I believed the polls that showed John Kerry winning. And I believed John would be a good president. Thank you for supporting him. I very much regret that he won't be there in the White House for us.

Much will be written about this election. People will analyze the nominees, their platforms, and the processes. There'll be detailed looks at the electorate. I'm sure our party will look hard at itself, its ideas, policies, and approaches.

We'll likely be very tough on ourselves and each other -- but I hope not too tough. We want to strengthen our party and our ability to compete in the next election and the one after that. So we need to show each other some appreciation, too, to keep it all in perspective.

I'll be listening to their views -- and to yours. It will take time, effort, and honesty to sort out the lessons. But I hope you'll be there as we do so. And participate. I look forward to reading your ideas and hearing from you in the coming days.

As for me, well, I'm continuing with efforts in the private sector. But I haven't lost my love for this country nor concern for her welfare. That's why, through WesPAC, I'll continue to speak out and fight for the issues we care about and the values we stand for.

Thanks again for standing beside me over the many months. We've got a lot left to do, so stick with me in the weeks and months ahead!

Sincerely,

Wes

here in NM, he was brilliant! He talked about THREE STRIKES, YOU'RE OUT as he ticked off all the crap Bush has done. It was a great rhetorical display...wanna reach dumbies? Talk this way. And yet, within that framework, his comments weren't "dumb"--they were forceful, clear, and stirred us all.
