My mistake
A few days ago I made a post that insulted some and it was not meant that way at all.
I commented on an action the person took and said it was a freak out. The enact wording was; “you are always freaking people out”

The post was pulled and I am glad because it was stupid. I should have seen that only another person of my age (I am 60) would have known the sense that I meant the comment to have.

A “Freak Out” was a tactic used by the Hippies in the 60s to get to the conciseness of the public. And it actually began with a group that called themselves “ The Merry Pranksters” They got an old school bus and painted it in psychedelic colors and traveled all over freaking people out by doing strange things and looking strange. They freaked out the older generation but they inspired the kids and spread the hippy life style and attitudes.

I am not one that dwells in the past and dreams of things of his youth, but I think the energy I feel here at the DU just reminded me of it. And it has also reminded me of the fact that it is the battle for the youth to fight, because it is there world they are fighting for. It is the duty of my generation to stand behind you and give all the support that we can. And retain the hope that this generation can create a better world for there children.
My generation failed in that effort and can be an example of what not to do as well as what really worked.

3. Dude, you are so old...
I'm a mere "baby" of 50 and I know where you're coming from. While this place can seriously piss me off at times, the energy and vitality of the young as they are represented here both astounds and encourages me. These kids seriously rock.

4. Generation gap
Yeah, that pesky thing they talked to us about in the 60s, seems to have happened again. I have no clue what some of the new phrases are or what they mean, and tend to rely on the words of my youth.

And I still recall marching in anti-war protests with sweet people in their 60s, and thinking how cool it was that they supported us. And so I join you-and our young DU friends-in solidarity on the picket line, the protest line, and voting line to get the illegitamate administration out of here!
